A nuclear disaster next? -Bhopal gas disaster company escapes justice
..in case of a nuclear accident, while providing complete immunity to a foreign nuclear reactor builder from any victim-initiated civil suit or a criminal proceedings both in an Indian court or in a court in its home country.
Bhopal judgment symbolises decayed justice in a deficient democracy(June 08, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka Guardian) Statement issued by the Asian Human Rights Commission The recent judgment delivered by a court in the Bhopal Gas disaster case convicting all the seven accused could have been a welcome one and could have gone a long way in ensuring people’s faith in the country’s judiciary and the rule of law, but for the features of a failing justice regime the investigation and trial exhibits…….. They know full well that the economics of nuclear don’t stack up and that new reactors will only ever happen if the British taxpayer is forced yet again to carry the atomic can.”.

Falsifying records – a world wide feature of the nuclear industry
Then there’s the cover-up, deception and fraud. Workers at the UK’s Sellafield nuclear facility falsified safety records. Japan’s Tokyo Electric Power Company falsified safety records. Falsified records. Falsified records. Falsified records. Falsified records.
More nuclear history repeating | Greenpeace International, 4 June 2010, The news coming out about nuclear power can read merely like a series of isolated, unconnected events. But if you read the nuclear news often, as we do, patterns start to form.A story from one part of the world is horribly similar to another from somewhere else. The nuclear industries around the world seem to have a shared behaviour that emerges when you take a step back. Continue reading

Syria’s past nuclear experiments revealed
IAEA report: Syria reveals past nuclear experiments, Earth Times News, 31 May Vienna – Syria has revealed details about past nuclear experiments to the International Atomic Energy Agency, the IAEA said Monday in a document that otherwise reported no cooperation from the Middle Eastern country.Syria’s lack of transparency has so far prevented the Vienna-based IAEA from fully investigating a site that Israel bombed in 2007 on suspicion it was a secret nuclear reactor being built with North Korean help.In the course of the probe, Syrian officials admitted between March and May that experiments to convert and irradiate uranium chemicals were carried out in 2004.”They failed to report those,” a senior diplomat familiar with the IAEA’s work in Syria said. But he explained that it was too early to say whether these experiments were really purely small scientific projects, as Syria claims, or whether additional work was done…IAEA report: Syria reveals past nuclear experiments | Earth Times News
Graham and Reilly – two nuclear promoters heading oil spill commission
The EPA under Reilly specifically called for “the construction of 600 more 1,000-megawatt nuclear power plants around the world.”
Nuclear Energy Has a Friend in Heads of Obama’s BP Oil Disaster Commission, by kgosztola May 25, 2010 “…….The single largest nuclear industry contributor to Graham’s campaign was Exelon, which has provided him with $19,000 since 1998. Exelon, in fact, is a particularly generous donor, giving a total of $588,044 to members of Congress in 2002 alone. That makes it the kindest nuclear company to politicians, according to a Public Citizen report issued this past May 20 titled “Hot Waste, Cold Cash.” ….

Beyond Nuclear, 22 May 2010 In a May 10, 2010 letter, Dr. Richard Meserve resigned as Chair of the Nuclear and Radiation Studies Board of the National Academies of Sciences (NAS) from all committee activity related to a massive national health study that is taking shape around nuclear power facilities in the United States.
The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has requested that the NAS conduct a health study around past, present and future nuclear power facilities. As Beyond Nuclear identified in an April 29, 2010 letter requesting that the NAS conduct a conflict-of-interest review, Dr. Meserve currently serves on the Board of Directors for Luminant Corporation which owns the Comanche Peak nuclear power station in Texas and Pacific Gas and Electric which operates the Diablo Canyon reactors in California. Dr. Meserve also serves on an advisory board to UniStar Nuclear Corporation (Constellation Energy and Electricite de France) which has applied to the NRC to build new reactors around the United States.
How USA has helped Israel to get nuclear weapons
How US Weapons Grade Uranium was Diverted to Israel | Before It’s News, May 17, 2010“……. U.S. presidents have long acquiesced to “strategic ambiguity” – a policy of neither confirming nor denying that Israel even possesses nuclear weapons. This pretext has allowed the U.S. to deliver the lion’s share of its foreign assistance budget to Israel, despite clear legal prohibitions imposed by the Glenn and Symington amendments to the Foreign Assistance Act. American Cancer Society tried to discredit President’s Cancer Panel Report
The American Cancer Society has also been criticized for being influenced by members of its board who have financial interests in funding for screening and treatment – but not prevention. Indeed the Chronicle of Philanthropy famously once blasted the ACS as being “more interested in accumulating wealth than in saving lives”
Every Cancer Counts, Carl Pope: Memo to the American Cancer Society, THE HUFFINGTON POST, May 11, 2010, The ACS comment was widely and understandably reported as an attack on the scientific validity of the Cancer Panel’s findings. But in reality, the Cancer Panel never said that pollution is the major cause of cancer. Continue reading
