Massachusetts’ Happy New Year Calendar – all about nuclear emergencies

State distributes nuclear power plant emergency calendars – Milford, MA – The Milford Daily News, 3 Jan 2011, FRAMINGHAM —The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency recently sent calendars containing emergency information to residents of 18 Massachusetts communities near the Pilgrim, Seabrook and Vermont Yankee nuclear power stations.Residents of Duxbury, Kingston, Plymouth, and portions of Carver and Marshfield; Amesbury, Merrimac, Newbury, Newburyport, Salisbury and West Newbury; and Bernardston, Leyden, and portions of Colrain, Gill, Greenfield, Northfield and Warwick, receive the annual calendar, which has information on emergency warning signals, how residents would be notified, protective actions such as sheltering in place and evacuation, as well as the possibility of ingesting potassium iodide……State distributes nuclear power plant emergency calendars – Milford, MA – The Milford Daily News

USA’s blatant double standards on Israel’s and Iran’s nukes

Here we are demanding that Iran gives up its peaceful nuclear program, which is in compliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Nuclear lobbyists will have to twist and turn to resuscitate nuclear industry

…. Nothing but a massive new infusion of subsidies from taxpayers and customers can get the renaissance back on track…………..
Subsidizing new reactors will also come disguised as job creation. It takes a lot of people to build a nuclear plant. However, it also takes a lot of people to build other types of power plants or to install energy-efficiency measures. And these other technologies really are shovel-ready. They don’t require licenses that take years to acquire. And—because they are cheaper than new reactors—they don’t impose job-killing rate increases on industries with big electric bills….

USA business as usual, and by the way, Duck and Cover

Here we are back in December of 2010. Iran is enriching uranium. So is North Korea. China has 10,000 missiles aimed at Taiwan, whom we must protect and defend. Now the government is presenting us with detailed advice on surviving nuclear explosions. But they remind us that we have no need for concern. It’s “Business as usual”. Rumor has it that several Senators have refused to discuss the matter until bills are added to promote online shopping for flashlights and batteries, and the elimination of soda pop for poor people — let them drink water!
