Edward Snowden is ready to testify on the US wiretapping of Angela Merkel’s phone if Germany will grant him political asylum — and Merkel may just take him up on the offer.
“My government continues to treat dissent as defection, and seeks to criminalize political speech with felony charges that provide no defense,” Snowden wrote German officials. “Speaking the truth is not a crime.”
Edward Snowden will never be safe if he returns to the US, and temporary asylum in a country notorious for its own civil liberties abuses won’t work in the long run. But if Merkel lets him stay on German soil, Snowden could have a life again — which is the least we can do for the whistleblower who exposed the NSA.
Berlin has a growing reputation for standing up against civil liberties abuses. But if Merkel turns Snowden down, it will look as though she supports the Obama administration’s disregard for privacy and mockery of international law — now let’s make sure she knows that before she makes her decision.

DARIUSZ LESZCZYNSKI has a doctorate in molecular biology and is an expert in biological and health effects of mobile phone radiation. He is associated professor of biochemistry at the University of Helsinki, Finland. Participated in the World Health Organisation WHO‘s cancer panel IARC, which in 2011 classified radiation from mobile phones, wireless networks and the like as possible carcinogens.
Dariusz Leszczynski was research professor at the Finnish radiation protection STUK during the period 2000-2013, research on the biological effects of radiofrequency fields.
Leszczynski was under strong pressure of censorship by STUK and was recently dismissed due. to their critical views on the Interphone study – though economic cutbacks was the official reason that he alone among 20 researchers had to stop.

TEPCO released some images and information about the work progress on the 5th floor refueling floor of unit 2. This is where the Warrior robot became stranded and had to be abandoned after they were unable to restart it.
They have managed to cut down one of the reactor well fences using the Warrior robot. The second fence further across the refueling floor is where Warrior failed. It appears to have hung itself up while cutting loose the reactor well fence on the far side.
This caused TEPCO to change the concrete sampling locations for the (2.5 ton) MEISTeR robot. It took samples near the blow out panel door and on the concrete reactor cover. Those have been extracted and taken for testing.
The Warrior robot as it sits stranded on the unit 2 refueling floor. After the battery discharged workers are unable to restart it even after recharging it. The “on” switch can only be manually activated on the robot itself. Since the radiation levels on the refueling floor are so high workers can not go in to restart it.

The utility later discovered that the battery of the “Warrior” robot was designed to automatically cut-off power from the external cable when the battery was fully charged, a fact that workers did not know when they sent the robot into the reactor building.
This design meant that the battery could not be charged by the external power cord unless workers manually flipped a switch on the body of the robot.
Workers were unable to access the areas where the robot was inspecting due to the high radiation levels in the reactor building and decided to abandon it.
The “Warrior” robot is the second robot to be abandoned in the Unit 2 reactor building. In 2011, the “Quince” robot, designed by the Chiba Institute of Technology was also abandoned after becoming immobilized on the third floor of the reactor building.

The messaging service stopped after the link was sent. then as i started to post my thoughts, the message jammed and i could not see what i was writing. when I tried to post it up the message wouldnt send and my messaging list completely disappeared. So I initially thought that it was an FB glitch. Then my daughter sent me a message but i could not answer it as my FB had been corrupted. Here is the screen shot for that.
As you can see by the bar on the right, the page is at the bottom but the boxes for response and the messaging section is missing.
And I cannot reply to my daughter either.
Why does GCHQ want to stop the message to beyond nuclear? It is 05,00 GMT and I am being watched real time? A great use of tax payers money and as the GCHQ operator is NOT keeping an eye on real terrorists and criminals we get things like this happening;

The article describes problems with the Genetic damage being passed on to the children of the veterans and how the UK government is trying to stop the case using Tempora and the illegal UK terror laws. e
The article was not put on the Internet and can only be read in paper form just as local newspapers cannot put stories of the children of Chernobyl coming to the UK for recuperation (the UK is the only country in Europe to recently start charging Chernobyl childrens charities for visas) as reported on nuclear-news.net recently [ Arclights note that the article in question are not functioning for some reason on nuclear news blog but you can get there by clicking here; https://nuclear-news.net/?s=children+of+chernobyl ). There is obviously some strong arm tactics being used on the press in the UK to stop them putting nuclear related stories of any sort on the Internet. So well done to the Sunday Mirror staff and editors.

No let up from radiation fears.
There is no way to prove that radiation caused a specific birth defect. But it is well known that radiation causes mutations and that has been proven in New Zealand.Nuclear veterans have three times as much genetic damage as survivors of Chernobyl.
The British Government has refused requests to carry out the same genetic tests research on out own veterans.
Professor Chris Busby did his statistical survey of the vets and their descendent’s in 2007. It found that children of the vets were 10 times more likely to get birth defects and five times more likely to die as infants.
He reveals: “ The main thing is that the grandchildren are suffering at almost the same rate as the as the children of the veterans. In normal genetics with each generation the effects., with each generation the effects would be less as new DNA is added to the family line. But with radiation exposure a kind of instability is passed down- like an alarming message in a bottle passed from mother to child. It tells the child to assemble the genes randomly in all directions, so you get many children with strange deformities. “ The genes do it in order to evolve around the radiation.” “But it is terrible that women have this fear hanging over their heads because of what happened to their fathers. And yet there is no concessions from the Government or military that it happened at all”
The article then goes on to describe the horrifying situation that Shirley Denson finds herself in as a daughter of a Test veteran. I will post this up in its entirety as the Sunday Mirror probably has been warned away from doing that under national security terms now in force in the UK. Dr Chris busby had his website hacked again this morning in line with the article coming out. This is to stop people reading his on-line report from 2007. Which I have a paper copy of in front of me.
Dr Busby wrote this article in Germany when he had his position there but owing to pressure from German nuclear lobby he lost that position.
His report which will be posted on-line here at nuclear-news.net as a “mirror” in case of him being attacked by GCHQ and specifically Theresa May who must have signed off on the cyber attack to allow the UK military intelligence services to behave in such a way.

Dr busby connects Uranium as a possible trigger for this damage (Uranium is a beta emitter that is ignored by the Environment Agency in the UK because it gives a low”dose”). This evidence would bring the claims of the IAEA, ICRP and UNSCEAR into disrepute and open the flood gates of litigation against the nuclear industry worldwide in respect of the victims of Kazakhstan (Russian testing), Chernobyl, 3 Mile Island, Fukushima (Japan) and many others including the nuclear test veterans of course.
Here is a quote from the original report;
“The finding that the levels of congenital disease do not taper down with generation doe suggest a genomic rather than (or addition to) a heritable genetic mechanism.”
General manipulation on the internet is as follows;
It might be worth mentioning the USA cyber actions against Dr Busby as epitomised by the likes of Roger Helbig (who fronts for the Yahoo nuclear lobby forums – Google his name and you will see that he and other colleagues are regularly attacking Dr Busby and other journalists, Independent scientists, universities and bloggers). A full description of all the attacks on anti nuclear proponents would be too long for this article but i will show one example below.
Major media outlets are targeted by the likes of Ashursts Australia to stop this type of information getting out. Though Ashursts were eventually very kind to Christina Mac Phearson (a dear sweet 70 plus year old Australian blogger who is my blog partner and was chosen by Palladin Mining for “special attention”).

ATTENTION: Saturday, April 5, 2014 – Nuclear Hotseat website has been taken down by a malware attack. Episodes can be accessed through iTunes under Podcasts, search Nuclear Hotseat. This problem will not be fixed until Monday at the earliest, as the level of attack requires specialists at the top level of my server. This was no amateur.
According to my server, all content is backed up every 24 hours, so we should be able to restore. Not to worry. It’s always nice to know that one’s work is being noticed and obviously, I’m having an impact.
One more thing: On Facebook, I post Nuclear Hotseat based on searching certain key words – nuke, nuclear, etc. I put in the word and a whole series of connections show up. I click at the bottom of that insert screen on the word I’ve posted and the list of names becomes stationary and I can tool through them to post – arduous, but not impossible.
NOW, since the attack on the Nuclear Hotseat website, Facebook will no longer allow me to search in this way. Instead, it gives me a list of links to INTERNET links, not Facebook links. Anyone know a way out of this one?
Please share this info widely. I’m still on limited wifi access and unable to get this out.

Despite people’s clamor for transparency in radiation levels found in the prefecture of Fukushima, a Cabinet office team has delayed releasing the results of its latest measurement of radiation in three municipalities in the region. The government has postponed making the results public as they seek to recalculate the information and release a much lower level findings.
While the three municipalities in question currently have an active evacuation order, the order might be lifted soon. As such, the government has begun taking radiation levels in the area to support the lifting. But a source, speaking to the Mainichi newspaper, said that tests yielded results that are higher than expected, which pushed the Cabinet Office team to withhold the data temporarily as it might discourage residents from going back.
Documents from November last year, which detail the radiation measurements and date of release, were never made public. They indicated the measurements taken by the Japan Atomic Energy Agency and the National Institute of Radiological Sciences from the city of Tamura’s Miyakoji district, the village of Kawauchi and the village of Iitate. New dosimeters, left indoors and outdoors at houses, buildings, farms and wilderness areas, were used to take the radiation levels. As most of the measurements were done on an aerial level, the Cabinet Office wanted to compare results from that with those taken on the ground to come up with radiation estimates by job type. This is with the government’s assumption that the residents would be spending eight hours outdoors, and sixteen hours indoors daily.
Previous levels were measured using old dosimeters given by the Fukushima prefecture to its residents, which showed much lower levels. However, the recent ones taken were significantly higher than expected. While expectations were at 1 to 2 millisieverts a day, data showed the levels to be at 2.6 to 6.6 millisieverts. As the team realize that the results would “have a huge impact” which will “need to be explained to local communities,” it was decided to defer releasing the results. The JAEA and NIRS recalculated results by changing their initial assumption that people would be working outdoors for a shorter period, such as a farmer who will spend only six hours outdoors. The new results were submitted to the Cabinet Office team, which they planned to release later this month to the three municipalities.
Atsuo Tamura from the Cabinet Office team confirmed the recalculation and unreleased documents, but denied covering up anything. He said, “We did not hold the results back because they were too high. We did so because it was necessary to look into whether the assumptions for residents’ lifestyle patterns matched reality.” But a professor of radiation and hygiene from the Dokkyo Medical University, Shinzo Kimura, is not convinced. “The assumption of eight hours a day outside and 16 hours inside is commonly used, and it is strange to change it. I can’t see it as anything but them fiddling with the numbers to make them come out as they wanted,” he explained.

So it could be a sneaky release from a nuke power station or re-prepossessing plant.. It could even be both as the nukes would use such pollution to hide the release so as to be able to low ball the annual emission numbers.. this is very common.. as only some monitors were switched off and they are gamma based it makes me think the worst rads might be local to Europe.. but added beta from Sahara is also possible.. SPREADING THE LOVE!!??

Tepco cannot even investigate what caused the system problem in multiple nuclide removing system ALPS (Advanced Liquid Processing System).
The system has shut down 3 times within 10 days. This is about the first shut down.
Tepco found that one of the 3 systems did not purify the contaminated water on 3/18/2014. Before they notice this problem, they already contaminated 21 tanks and 1km length of the pipes.
They assume the problem was in a filter of this system. However, they can’t investigate the part due to the excessively high level of radiation.
Tepco states they need to decontaminate the part but they haven’t even been able to start cleaning the filter.
Tepco’s spokes man commented they are in the process of preparation but it’s not known when they complete the investigation.
ALPS is practically considered to be one of the national projects on contaminated water issue. Tepco’s president Hirose stated to Japanese Prime Minister Abe to complete purifying all the contaminated water by the end of March in 2015.
The current contaminated water volume is approx. 450,000 m3. ALPS is required to process 1,960 m3/day of contaminated water from this summer. However ALPS hasn’t been in the full operation since early 2013. The cause of this latest trouble hasn’t even been identified either. There is a possibility that ALPS is only an imaginary technology to swerve the domestic / international criticisms for a short term.

Tepco ne peut même pas rechercher ce qui a posé problème au système de filtration multi-nucléide ALPS (Advanced Liquid Processing System).
Ce système a été arrêté 3 fois en 10 jours. Ceci concerne le premier arrêt.
Tepco a trouvé le 18 mars 2014 que l’un des 3 systèmes ne filtrait plus rien. Ils avaient déjà pollué 21 citernes et 1 km de tuyauteries quand ils s’en sont rendus compte.
Ils supposent que le problème se situe dans l’un des filtres de ce système. Cependant, ils ne peuvent aller explorer cet endroit à cause de sa trop grande radioactivité.

ALPS est quasiment considéré comme étant le premier des projets de retraitement des eaux extrêmement radioactives. M. Hirose, le président de Tepco a affirmé à M. Abe, le premier ministre japonais que la filtration des eaux extrêmement radioactives seraient terminée pour fin mars 2015.
Le volume actuel des eaux extrêmement radioactives est d’environ 450 000 m³ (=45 000 Hl). ALPS doit traiter 1 960 m³/jour (196 Hl/j) d’eau extrêmement radioactive à partir de cet été. Or ALPS n’a jamais été totalement opérationnel depuis le début de 2013. La cause du dernier problème n’a pas encore été même identifiée non plus. Il est possible que ALPS soit une technique parfaitement imaginaire pour se dérober aux critiques intérieures/ internationales à court terme.

Tepco established the inner company organization specialized in Fukushima decommissioning on 4/1/2014. As of the day, this company is to take the initiative and responsibility of Fukushima decommissioning.
According to Tepco, 3 of 6 vice presidents are invited from outside of Tepco. However, all of these 3 vice presidents were invited from the nuclear makers.
These are Mitsubishi heavy industries, Toshiba, and Hitachi GE nuclear energy.
Tepco comments they invited the professional members. They call it “All Japan tactics”.

Almost two months ago, the French government condemned a French citizen-NGO for criticizing the almost completely French government owned nuclear company AREVA. (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Areva)
How can a government sue its own citizen for raising a question of possible corruption? Shouldn’t the government provide documents proving that there was no corruption instead?
Since when do citizens have no right to criticize their own government or question its actions? This shows that France has no free speech and is no democracy.
We find AREVA a very worrisome entity. It is a majority French government owned nuclear multinational, and by all appearances, the French government seems willing to put the weight of the French military, and now French courts, behind it. What is this other than a Nuclear Empire?
And, AREVA is more widely present throughout the world than realized. It has been present at Fukushima, having provided its MOX fuel, and operating a post-nuclear disaster water purification system, which apparently failed, and other projects. (1) It is involved in the WIPP nuclear waste dump (2), which has recently leaked radiation in the USA; it is involved in the Savannah River MOX plant, which ran over cost and is being moth-balled by the USA. AREVA mines for uranium in Africa, where, by all appearances, the French military is throwing its weight around to protect its mining interests. AREVA works closely with majority French government owned EDF, as well.
The outcome of the appeal in this case, appears yet to be announced. But, the fact that AREVA sued a French citizen, running a tiny NGO-blog site, for defamation, and that a judge ruled in AREVA’s favour, shows just how out of control AREVA and the French State really are. It is hence unsurprising that AREVA has almost two hundred entries in Wise Uranium’s “Hall of Infamy”: http://www.wise-uranium.org/uccoghi.html

Condemned at the demand of Areva,
l’Observatoire du nucléaire, appeals this judgement which
seriously endangers the right
to denounce the misdeeds of the nuclear lobby
Friday, 7 February 2014, despite damning evidence made public by l’Observatoire du nucléaire (see http://www.observatoire-du-nucleaire.org), the 17th Criminal Chamber of the Court of Paris saw fit to condemn (to several thousand euros in financial penalties, details shortly) for ‘defamation’ this association, at the urging of the radioactive multinational Areva.
It is edifying to remark that it is not only the justice system, but almost the entirety of French society, the main political parties, with the majority of the ‘big’ media, at the forefront, who conscientiously turn their eyes away, in order to profit from the plunder of Niger’s uranium. So, Areva was finally just executing this dirty work.
France is too happy to be able to fuel its nuclear reactors by grabbing Niger’s uranium at a derisory price: it’s probably hundreds of billions of euros, which should be reimbursed to Niger, especially if one takes into account the serious environmental damage (contamination, drying up of groundwater) and public health (multiple cancers, displacement of the local population, etc.)
The supposedly ‘environmentalist’ party EELV, through its two ministers, and by the complicit silence of its parliamentary groups, is directly the accomplice of Areva and of the nuclear lobby. Questioned on France-Inter, the minister of ‘development’ Pascal Canfin squarely stood up for Areva (morning of 21 January 2013, http://www.franceinter.fr/player/reecouter?play=545845)” [Translation note: the audio seems no long available. However, we found a transcript here: http://www.agoravox.fr/actualites/politique/article/veulerie-de-pascal-canfin-ministre-129564 From our understanding, Pascal Canfin said that Areva and the Niger government were partners (lit. shareholders) at the Niger mines, and hence Areva gives the Niger government money. Pascal Canfin’s argument appears to be that the government-president of Niger can do as they please with the money, including buying an airplane for the president. He seems to consider this not to be corruption. Nonetheless, Stephane Lhomme of Observatoire du nucléaire has spoken of an ethical and moral dimension in this affair, even if it is not corruption by the letter of the law(2)]
“CGT-energy [French energy union], for its part, cheerfully ridicules all union and antiglobalization values by supporting the looting of Niger on behalf of the nuclear industry … and of its lucrative Works Council, carved up, by this union with more than curious methods.(3)
The mainstream media has an overwhelming responsibility, because they, in particular, keep alive the myth of the supposed ‘energy independence provided by nuclear energy’ whereas 100% of the fuel is imported (looting of Niger, deals with dictators of Central Asia, etc.)
Regarding the famous case of the ‘Areva gift’ judged in court this day, it should be recalled that nobody would have heard of this real State Scandal, without the courageous commitment of the l’Observatoire du nucléaire. This payment of 35 million euros, added in late 2012, by Areva, to the budget of Niger, in controversial circumstances, and pre-allocated to the purchase of an airplane for the President of Niger (a former executive of Areva!), perfectly illustrates the contempt of nuclear France for the people of Niger.

(The GCHQ document also describes a practice called “credential harvesting,” which NBC described as an effort to “select journalists who could be used to spread information” that the government wants distributed.
This week, the Associated Press exposed a secret program run by the U.S. Agency for International Development to create “a Twitter-like Cuban communications network” run through “secret shell companies” in order to create the false appearance of being a privately owned operation. Unbeknownst to the service’s Cuban users was the fact that “American contractors were gathering their private data in the hope that it might be used for political purposes”–specifically, to manipulate those users in order to foment dissent in Cuba and subvert its government. According to top-secret documents published today by The Intercept, this sort of operation is frequently discussed at western intelligence agencies, which have plotted ways to covertly use social media for ”propaganda,” “deception,” “mass messaging,” and “pushing stories.”
These ideas–discussions of how to exploit the internet, specifically social media, to surreptitiously disseminate viewpoints friendly to western interests and spread false or damaging information about targets–appear repeatedly throughout the archive of materials provided by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. Documents prepared by NSA and its British counterpart GCHQ–and previously published by The Intercept as well as some by NBC News–detailed several of those programs, including a unit devoted in part to “discrediting” the agency’s enemies with false information spread online.
The documents in the archive show that the British are particularly aggressive and eager in this regard, and formally shared their methods with their U.S. counterparts. One previously undisclosed top-secret document–prepared by GCHQ for the 2010 annual “SIGDEV” gathering of the “Five Eyes” surveillance alliance comprising the UK, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and the U.S.–explicitly discusses ways to exploit Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other social media as secret platforms for propaganda.
The document was presented by GCHQ’s Joint Threat Research Intelligence Group (JTRIG). The unit’s self-described purpose is “using online techniques to make something happen in the real or cyber world,” including “information ops (influence or disruption).” The British agency describes its JTRIG and Computer Network Exploitation operations as a “major part of business” at GCHQ, conducting “5% of Operations.”
The annual SIGDEV conference, according to one NSA document published today by The Intercept, “enables unprecedented visibility of SIGINT Development activities from across the Extended Enterprise, Second Party and US Intelligence communities.” The 2009 Conference, held at Fort Meade, included “eighty-six representatives from the wider US Intelligence Community, covering agencies as diverse as CIA (a record 50 participants), the Air Force Research Laboratory and the National Air and Space Intelligence Center.”
Defenders of surveillance agencies have often insinuated that such proposals are nothing more than pipe dreams and wishful thinking on the part of intelligence agents. But these documents are not merely proposals or hypothetical scenarios. As described by the NSA document published today, the purpose of SIGDEV presentations is “to synchronize discovery efforts, share breakthroughs, and swap knowledge on the art of analysis.”
For instance: One of the programs described by the newly released GCHQ document is dubbed “Royal Concierge,” under which the British agency intercepts email confirmations of hotel reservations to enable it to subject hotel guests to electronic monitoring. It also contemplates how to “influence the hotel choice” of travelers and to determine whether they stay at “SIGINT friendly” hotels. The document asks: “Can we influence the hotel choice? Can we cancel their visit?”
Previously, der Spiegel and NBC News both independently confirmed that the “Royal Concierge” program has been implemented and extensively used. The German magazine reported that “for more than three years, GCHQ has had a system to automatically monitor hotel bookings of at least 350 upscale hotels around the world in order to target, search, and analyze reservations to detect diplomats and government officials.” NBC reported that “the intelligence agency uses the information to spy on human targets through ‘close access technical operations,’ which can include listening in on telephone calls and tapping hotel computers as well as sending intelligence officers to observe the targets in person at the hotels.”
The GCHQ document we are publishing today expressly contemplates exploiting social media venues such as Twitter, as well as other communications venues including email, to seed state propaganda–GHCQ’s word, not mine–across the internet:
