Aureos wins £190m Dungeness boiler decommissioning deal
Aureos has won a contract worth up to £190m to remove eight boilers from
the former Dungeness A nuclear power station in Kent. Nuclear Restoration
Services (NRS), a subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority,
appointed the contractor following a competitive procurement process. The
contract covers the removal of eight boiler units, each weighing around 800
tonnes, alongside associated plant and infrastructure. NRS chief executive
Rob Fletcher described the job as “a landmark project” and “a major
engineering challenge”.
