At the same time, he said the U.S. is working with other nations “to ensure that all countries can access nuclear energy for peaceful purposes in a manner that minimizes proliferation risks.”….. The nuclear lobby jumps on the “peace” bandwagon

Christina Macpherson.29 March 2010 In April-May there will be international conventions and conferences aimed at reducing the spread of nuclear weapons.
Unfortunately the nuclear lobby is well and truly on this bandwagon. The “peace” message will be joined with the message to increase “civil” nuclear energy, and the George W. Bush initiated plan of “cradle to grave” nuclear fuel cycle of leasing uranium.
Never mind that scientific opinion has already discredited nuclear power as “safe” or “clean”, and discredited George W. Bush’s plan – the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership, The GNEP is still being touted as the magic formula that will not only “solve” the nuclear waste problem (by returning wastes to their uranium mining origin). Now the GNEP is going to promote peace too!

The Center for Strategic and International Studies says in a new report that a tactical nuclear warhead aimed at Iranian uranium enrichment plants might not release much radioactive fallout to the surrounding area. Earthquakes predicted for San Onofre nuclear plant area
Nuclear plant is a disaster in waiting Ricardo Nicol, The Orange County Register 24 March 2010, According to the Uniform Building Code, which establishes standards for the construction of safe buildings in the U.S., the San Onofre nuclear plant is located in the world’s highest seismic risk zone (Zone 4). The San Onofre nuclear plant area is riddled with land and offshore earthquake faults, many of them discovered after the structural design and construction of the existing reactors.

A government serious about preventing nuclear blackmail would be ready to bring something decisive to the non-proliferation review in New York in May. The UK’s claim that we’re working towards full multilateral disarmament while investing £70-odd billion in nuclear rearmament doesn’t exactly have the ring of conviction.

Yesterday we had Bill Gates and his sci-fi reactor……The realities of the baseload myth and decentralized energy production seem to have finally occurred to nuclear boffins and they’re trying to catch up with the rest of us.

Khan is regarded as the father of Pakistan’s nuclear program. He was detained in December 2003, and in early 2004 he admitted on television that he operated a network that spread nuclear weapons technology to North Korea, Libya and Iran…….
Khan is regarded by many Pakistanis as a hero for his key role in developing its nuclear weapons program. Government officials say he is kept under close watch for his own safety, but many analysts say the powerful military and intelligence agencies restrict his movement because they fear he may implicate them in past nuclear proliferation.
