Training campus expansion to support Sizewell C project

The expansion of a construction and engineering training campus in Suffolk
has been backed to train up to 3,000 people over five years. Phase two of
the Lound Civil Campus at East Coast College will provide training linked
to the Sizewell C nuclear power station and other Nationally Significant
Infrastructure Projects, according to East Suffolk Council.
The project
received £2.1m from the Asset Skills Enhancement and Capability Fund,
which is managed by Suffolk County Council, East Suffolk Council and the
client Sizewell C Ltd. The expanded campus is designed to provide training
for “up to 3,000” new entrants, career changers and existing workers
seeking additional construction and engineering skills, East Suffolk
Council said. Courses will focus on civil engineering and construction
trades, with the college working alongside regional employers to identify
workforce requirements.
