The Democratic Republic of Congo is launching a probe into the contamination of cobalt with uranium.

The Democratic Republic of Congo is launching a probe into the
contamination of cobalt with uranium, as the world’s biggest producer of
the battery metal responds to concerns over how much of the radioactive
mining byproduct is being exported. Officials said they would test for
uranium in the cobalt hydroxide that is exported in huge quantities to
China and establish a working group to look into the findings of an
academic paper published in Nature Communications and a recent FT report.
