  1. I used to work Cultural Resources for the US Forest Service out of Durango, CO. Everyday, we drove by the mountain south of town, that gave me the creeps…the local kids told me, the barren slope draining into the Animas River, was an old uranium mine from the boom around WWII…but it was ok, because the AEC said so and besides it was washing away into New Mexico. I’m nearly 70 now, so longer than I’ve been alive, the slope wash from those tailings have been washing away into our sisters and brothers in New Mexico. It is time to stop this.
