The News That Matters about the Nuclear Industry Fukushima Chernobyl Mayak Three Mile Island Atomic Testing Radiation Isotope

To 8th September – nuclear and climate news

Japan acknowledges that prolonged exposure to ‘low level’ ionising radiation caused the cancer death of a Fukushima nuclear worker, and compensation will be paid to his family. This is the first time that the Japanese Health, Labour and Welfare Ministry have ruled on a radiation-caused death.

This will no doubt upset the nuclear lobby, who like to say that only high level radiation is harmful. It’s like the tobacco companies suggesting that only smoking 100 cigarettes a day would cause lung cancer – a few a day would be harmless, or actually good for you.

In fact, worker deaths from low level radiation have been reported many times, notably in the USA research by McClatchy News, which recorded 33,480.

  1. FACT CHECK: “In fact, worker deaths from low level radiation have been reported many times, notably in the USA research by McClatchy News, which recorded 33,480. “-

This number was reported in error. This part was wrong the the story. This is not an opinion on your piece just this error. THis is my finding alone.

    • If this number is in error – what is the correct number? It’s not as if McClatchy News just made this up. Their report was the result of two years’ comprehensive study by several researchers across America,

Comment by Christina MacPherson | September 8, 2018 | Reply

      • We all know every comprehensive 2-year study is immune to data collection errors leading to a flawed report.

The dose of I131, used for thyroid ablation is about 30 billionths of a gram. It is not necessary to do any radiation modeling for that. I131 is used as a pharmaceutical drug, to destroy thyroid tissue in place of surgery. There is little need for complicated individual dose calculations. There is certainly, no need for any bs radiation modeling. If a bolus of radiopharmaceutical I131 is administered via oral solution, it will find its way to the thyroid to do its dirty deed.

I131 is also a fission product . An acute dose of I131 in the environment, rarely reaches the saturation level of a radiopharmaceutical administered, in a hospital for a thyroidectomy. Global thyroid damage will be observed, for those who are unlucky enough to absorb higher boluses of I131, in an exposure. Thyroid cancer may occur.

Similarly Cesium 137 is acutely toxic to heart tissue, at 100 billions of a gram. Remember chernobyl heart.  No radiation modelling is necessary to establish this fact. The observation of heart effects from cesium 137/134 exposure to cesium 137,  effects on the heart  quite discernable. From the many studies from chernobyl and belarussian victims of chernobyl, observed by bandhechevsky, yablokov, and miller.

I am constantly amazed, at how willingly, experts are so quick to lowball morbidity and mortality calculations and effects, in the face of Chernobyl and Fukushima. There is no such thing as low  level radioactive waste. Any ingested radionuclide does its damage and then some. Even in microscopic amounts!

Tritium is mostly what the Japanese want to dump from Fukushima. Millions of tons of water with tritium in it. Massive amounts of nuclear waste from Fukushima.

Tritium bombards, and even attaches to tissue covalently. There is usually a lot of unaccountABLE Tritium, around nuclear reactors. Like radioactice Carbon 14 can, It binds to tissue. TRITIUM then permanently bombards the heck out of surrounding tissue, with beta rays!

There was a large study, that showed tritium increases cancer 20 times.  It is teratogenic. There are several case studies, of workers with increased rates of granulomas and lymphomas who were chronically exposed for years.
The pronukers go on and on, about k40 which is a nonstart. Even the gaslighters do it. It is Irrelevent, then they trurn around and lie their asses off about the extreme radiotoxicity and biological toxicity of tritium!☆☆

Hormesis is just bogus .  Genetic engineers cannot even make CRISPR work,  when they try to repair dna in people with genetic illness. That is because of the errors, made by cells and enzymes in living cells. Errors made  trying to repair DNA, with CRISPR. The cells themselves are damaged . They cannot do dna repair, with enzyme cleavings and insertions properly because of multiple flaws in enzyme induction and appropriation.. Dna polymerases in these cells cannot repair damaged dna and chromosones.

Radionuclide hormesis assertions, are fraudulent. They are fraudulent, mainly because exposure to poisons do not in the future, decrease vulnerability to more poison. Quite the contrary, exposure to radionuclide particles and boluses, cause bioccumulation. They cause damage. They  makes chronic illness  and early death much more likely..

There are many mechanisms, of damge from radionuclides to the body. Radionucides do, to the body and tissue, more than  acting as mutagens, causing dna cleavages and chromosone breaks. Their global damage is ravaging across all systems and cell types in the human body.

Radionuclides are cytotoxic. They can act as heavy metal poisons, to breakdown the machinery of enzymes and metabolism in cells. They fry nerve cells and heart tissue, important for transmission of electrical signals in the heart and nerves. They destroy important endogenous process like insulin secretion in the pancreas and thyroid secretion.

Dr busby talked about a study at los alamos where dogs were exposed to small amounts of plutonium, in their lungs. They all died from lung cancer in a couple of weeks because a threshold of acute damge was achieved that caused irrevwrsible damage!

Does that sound like hormesis to you? 30 millionths of a gram of iodine 131 in a cocktail , will destroy a thyroid gland. Look it up in a pharmacology book. That is what pharmaceutical iodine 131 is used for .

Dr. Busby is concerned with radiation modelling, because of his work with the european commision.  Dr Busby understands that radionuclide toxicology and bioccumulation, are far more important than external radiation exposure. External radiation diminishes to the square of distance. Ingested radionuclides are inside you, irradiating and poisoning you . Prof busby talks about how they did not even have instruments, during the test era to measure what radionuclides were in fallout. They do now.

We know how teratogenic, mutagenic, carcinogenic, cytotoxic, radionuclides are.

We know they cause heritable defects. Environmental toxicologists and professionals like Marco Kaltofen and physicians like Dr. Conrad Miller know the doses of cesium 137 in the environment that lead to specific heart damage. MILLER AND baddechevskh studied  cesium137 in chernobyl victims in Ukraine and Belarus.

Plutonium is quite toxic to the liver and lungs and brain. That is  because of the way mimics iron. Strontium has strong affinity and toxicity  to the bone tissue. Californium ruins the bodies ability to make  redblood cells.RADIOACTIVE iodine RUINSthe thyroid.

THEY ARE ALL INCREDIBLY TERATOGENIC. EVERY MEDICAL TEXT AND TOXICOLOGY BOOK, WILL VERIFY THIS!! HIGH enough exposure leads to a  high prevalence of sterility IN DOWNWINDERS AND individual victims of exposures. This was seen after winsdcale and chernobyl.

There are hundreds of highly toxic radionuclides in Hanford, in mayak, in chernobyl, in France and America by nuke plants.  AT Fukushima! They all include tritium, , uranium, plutonium, americium, rcesium, iodine 129, 131 and many other radionuclides!

There is the misinformation, that there is a difference between natural and manmade radionuclides. Saying there is,  is just crap. There is one radionuclide that has a billion year half life. That isotope does not emit such damaging radiation. It is usually in aqueous soln.

There are many dangerous natural radionuclides. Radium, thorium, uranium and and polonium are some of the most prolific. They are ubiquitous in our water supply in the United states from fracking, uranium mining, chemical and oil processing, internal combustion engines!

There are some manmade radionucides, that are heavy gamma emmiters.  That means they can kill you, from acute radiation poisoning more quickly than others and cause more massive damage more quickly. CESIUM 127, COBQLT 60, IRIDIUM192, STRONTIUM 90 ARE SUCH ELEMENTS!

Polonium, radium, uranium are some of the most dangerous radionuclides because, they are in a lot of drinking water now, as contaminants from human foolishness.

Some bufoons will say a hot particle or fiber, can only effect one cell in the body at a time.when breathed or absorbed. They can lodge in lungs or endothelial tissue and irradiate clusters of cells. There  is misinformation and gaslighting everywhere on the internet. Especially when it comes to radionuclide and nuclear issues.

There is no way to store nuclear waste safely. Uranium mine waste can be diluted and reburied.  Medical isotopes, any purified radionuclide, reactor waste, enriched uranium processing byproducts, residue from factories to make plutonium have hi level radionuclide waste. Like Hanford.

There are more   hi level radionuclides than they want you to know about! They generate heat, from their radioactive- nature. Many are highly chemically-reactive too. They emit beta, gamma and neutrons that will chenge/degrade the walls of the material, they are encased in. They can generate gases. They can catalyze exothermic reactions, with substance in around where they are stored. They can generate combustable-explosive gases like hydrogen. The nuclearists, have gone out of their way, to  keep these things a secret for years. Dr Busby has gone out of his way to explain this. Especially in the case of the swedes wanting to use copper casks for nuclear waste

Some misinformants will say that  radioactive elements do not do decay heat. Some do more than others, otherwise they could not be used in radiosotope thermal generators. Heat decay was noted, to cause hanford cesium tanks to leak.

There was a large swath of of nuclear waste, that exploded in nevada. Two large casks exploded in idaho recently. More people, have woke up to the dangerous nature of hi level radionuclides and, how hard it is to store them. The kitty litter in wipp did not spontaneously catch fire. The plutonium helped. Oxidized plutonium is also known to be pyrogenic. There is no safe way to store hi level radionuclides.

The nuclear industry and govt, do not want this known. The agents do not either.

  3. It’s a jungle out there
    Disorder and confusion everywhere
    No one seems to care
    Well I do
    Hey, who’s in charge here?

    It’s a jungle out there
Poison in the very air we breathe
Do you know what’s in the water that you drink?
Well I do and it’s amazing

People think I’m crazy ’cause I worry all the time
If you paid attention, you’d be worried too
    You better pay attention
Or this world we love so much might just kill you
I could be wrong now, but I don’t think so
‘Cause it’s a jungle out there, it’s a jungle out there

  4. This string was about data on one specific number. Think before you write and don’t begin with ad hominem attacks then follow with limited sourcing Otherwise it loses credibility . There are better journalists. They write like Pulitzer is as close as they will get to that name. If they had tritium I will write an apology to you. No way. They reduced to cool the rods because TEPCO is corrupt and has a long history of cover ups and lies to save face. You do have a lot of good points and are more correct on a few things than people talk about. Verses coal nuclear is better.

  5. Point is everything is bad for us. Consider how many die from naturally occurring radiation. And to be clear there are lots of workers who got screwed. They were Cold War heroes. The forgotten ones.

Comment by Dr SuperNova | November 14, 2018 | Reply

    • To say “everything is bad for us” is to completely blur the issue. Ionising radiation from the nuclear industry is particularly bad, in that it is invisible,no smell, can’t be touched etc, and that its effects may not appear for many decades, and indeed, into the next and future generations. “Naturally occurring radiation” becomes an obscure term , as quite a lot of “background radiation” came from atomic bomb testing in the past, and from nuclear activities over the decades. To say that lots of workers got screwed does not diminish the injustice done to nuclear workers. I would agree about those Cold War heroes, and agree that many other workers are abused and ignored.

Comment by Dr SuperNova | November 23, 2018

      • My point of view is pretty straightforward. I think that the nuclear industry was born out of militarists’ desire for the ultimate weapon, and has remained with that aim. The guilt feelings of some atomic scientists lead to the “peaceful nuke”, which has turned out to be an environmental, safety, and financial disaster. Currently the world is being swamped with a propaganda lie that the nuclear industry will save us from climate change.
