Toshiba America Nuclear Energy accused of discrimination against women

“pervasive discrimination against its female employees”

In lawsuit, HR exec accuses Toshiba branch of gender discrimination | Washington Business Journal by Ben Fischer, January 31, 2011, Falls Church-based Toshiba America Nuclear Energy Corp. is the subject of a $100 million gender discrimination lawsuit filed by its former human resources manager on Monday. The woman is being represented by David Sanford, of the firm Sanford Wittels & Heisler LLP, Elaine Cyphers, who moved with part of the company to Charlotte, N.C., during a 2009 transfer, alleges she was the victim of “pervasive discrimination against its female employees” from shortly after her 2008 hire to today. She is seeking class-action status in the complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, where parent company Toshiba America is headquartered.

Efforts to reach Toshiba representatives for comment were unsuccessful……
