Israel’s nuclear weapons a problem for Nuclear Non Proliferation Conference
they directed their focus to Israel, whose “unacknowledged” nuclear arsenal gets
a free pass thanks to US protection in IAEA and the UN Security Council…
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon commented over the weekend that more progress must be made world-wide in nuclear disarmament.

Arab countries at the conference echoed the US’ call to rid the region of nuclear weapons, but they directed their focus to Israel, whose “unacknowledged” nuclear arsenal gets a free pass thansk US protection in IAEA and the UN Security Council…
..Today Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh said Israel’s refusal to sign the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and in turn allow the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to monitor its nuclear program “renders the NPT a source of instability in the Middle East,” AP says.
Egypt proposed the UN conference develop a plan to hone in on stabilizing nuclear power in the Middle East. The US “cautiously supported” the proposal but insisted that such an initiative wait for more progress in the MidEast peace process……
The low-level diplomats representing the nuclear states at the meeting left when Ahmadinejad said nuclear states are a threat to those without nuclear weapons….
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon commented over the weekend that more progress must be made world-wide in nuclear disarmament.
