Conservation Council calls for referendum on uranium mining Perth Now

January 31, 2009 WA’S PEAK environment body has called for a referendum on uranium mining after the Barnett Government announced it would become a reality within four years…………………….the Conservation Council of Western Australia wants the issue decided by public ballot.

“If Minister Moore is so adamant that the people of WA support uranium mining, we would challenge him to put that to a referendum,” director Piers Verstegen said.
