South Africa’s nuclear deals kept secret from Cabinet and Treasury!
Ministers in the dark on nuclear deal, Rand Daily Mail, The agreement remains a mystery to most government officials, with the cabinet subcommittee on energy security yet to see it and the Treasury still in the dark CAROL PATON 06 NOVEMBER 2014 The nuclear co-operation agreement with the Russian Federation signed six weeks ago remains a mystery to most government officials, with the cabinet subcommittee on energy security yet to see it and the Treasury still in the dark.
Director-general of energy Wolsey Barnard, the accounting officer of the department, refused to say if he had seen the document yet. But senior government officials said he had not.
The agreement was signed six weeks ago amid confusion over its contents……..http://www.rdm.co.za/business/2014/11/06/ministers-in-the-dark-on-nuclear-deal
Cross-generational effects of exposure to ionising radiation
Denuclearize or lose our species: Multigenerational effects of exposure to radiation http://stop-u238.blogspot.com.au/2014/11/multigenerational-effects-of-exposure.html

To hear it from Jim Stone, Fukushima poses no serious risk to civilization or to the survival of the human species. The idea is merely a profit-making myth.
“Fukushima was bad, but it is Japan’s problem. All the stories about the Pacific dying are bold faced lies spewed for ratings to generate ad revenue. You still cannot go into many of the nuclear testing zones in Russia because it is too radioactive.
“America was more careful, and does not have similar problems. The 30 KM radius around Fukushima (which extends out 100 km to the North) is Japan’s equivalent of Russia’s old testing zone, which is a big disaster for Japan. But as far as the rest of the world? It is meaningless and will stay that way no matter what happens at Fuku.”
The problem is that real experts on radiation and health, such as Christopher Busby, internationally acclaimed expert on precisely this subject, and Majia Nadesen, who has just published a book about Fukushima, have a very different story for us–one with ominous implications for the future.
Interview with Majia Nadesen on “The Real Deal” (15 October 2014):
New research has disclosed that exposure to radiation turns out to have cross-generational DNA effects that current regulations and policies do not reflect, which was not the result that was expected; and that, if we continue to rely upon nuclear weapons and nuclear energy, the survival of the species is in jeopardy, after all. Read and weep.

Three people detained regarding drone flights over French nuclear power plants
Three detained over drone found near French nuclear plant Radio Australia 6 November 2014, Three people are detained after authorities find them with at least one drone near a French nuclear plant, officials say………The three people, believed to be aged in their 20s, were detained near a nuclear plant in Belleville-sur-Loire, some 150 kilometres south of Paris.
They were said to be in possession of at least one drone, although it had not flown over the plant.
Prosecutor Marie-Pierre Viret said the three were held for questioning over “voluntary overflight … of an aircraft in a prohibited area”.
French law bans small, civilian drones from areas such as nuclear facilities, which are protected by a no-fly zone that spans a 2.5-kilometre radius and a height of 1,000 metres.
French authorities have been left scratching their heads as unidentified drones have been flying over nuclear plants across the country………http://www.radioaustralia.net.au/international/2014-11-06/three-detained-over-drone-found-near-french-nuclear-plant/1386735
Ace Hoffman on USA’s Dept of Energy as a criminal organisation in its nuclear policies
The DOE demands that we keep the nuclear waste here for what may be eternity, because if there is an accident, it will be virtually impossible to clean up. Areas around Chernobyl and Fukushima are not going to be open to human habitation for tens of thousands of years — and only then because the poisons, active down to the last atom, have spread out amongst the rest of the biosphere to kill, maim, disfigure and deform there as well.
The Department of Energy (DOE) is committing treason. Ace Hoffman, 5 Nov 14 They are playing with American’s minds by forcing us to accept nuclear waste in our midst. They are usurping our rights as citizens, they are appropriating weapons of mass destruction, and they are targeting US with those weapons.
The DOE is a criminal organization. No doubt about it.
They are playing a high-stakes game with Russia which, if it results in just 1% of the nuclear arsenal of each country being used, would effectively permanently destroy both countries. Several other countries are involved in this high-stakes game (China, Britain, France, etc..) but America and Russia are the bully players.
The cost of the “game”? Obama plans to put another trillion dollars into it. And he’s the “peace” president! In two years, who knows what a Republican might spend? Two trillion? Three?
And to think that it’s spent under the name of “stewardship”! Keeping the weapons cache safe. Keeping it current. Continue reading
Australia’s Alternative Peoples Summit
Australia: Alternative G20 ‘People’s Summit’ planned for Brisbane, Asian Correspondent, By Rowena Dela Rosa Yoon Nov 04, 2014 An alternative G20 People’s Summit led by an indigenous people’s group will be held separately in Brisbane in response to the Coalition Government’s exclusion of climate change from the G20 Summit 2014 agenda. The three-day People’s Summit will take place on Nov. 12-14, ahead of the G20 leaders summit on Nov. 15-16.
While Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott will welcome delegations of the G20 for talks on global economic issues and cooperation, climate activists and civic groups will take to thestreets and other venues in Brisbane to highlight what is missing in the leaders’ summit agenda. The Brisbane Community Action Network – G20 (BrisCAN–G20) was created to question the policies enshrined in the free market ideologies of the G20. BrisCAN-G20 wants “to reframe public G20 discourse around issues that impact people, communities and environment; issues that are not addressed or have been ridden roughshod over by the G20 to date.”
Abbott argued that G20 is an economic summit, not a climate summit. He stands by his word, ignoring his disappointed European counterparts and US President Barack Obama.
In September this year, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon hosted the UN Climate Summit in New York, but Abbott did not show. Managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, later noted that climate change should be discussed during the G20 Summit in Brisbane, but Abbott said the G20 is meant to focus primarily on economic growth. He said other issues would only clutter the issue and distract from the summit’s focus. Obama’s international adviser, Caroline Atkinson, also expressed disappointment and was reported to have said, “the idea that Abbott is preventing a discussion on climate change is laughable.”………
Abbott is a self-confessed climate sceptic. He already scrapped the carbon tax, and the nation’s renewable energy target is under threat……..http://asiancorrespondent.com/127944/australia-alternative-g20-peoples-summit-set-in-brisbane/
Informal talks between Obama and Putin likely, at APEC and G20 Summits
Obama and Putin Likely to Have Informal Talks as Russia Advances on Ukraine,reason.com. Zenon Evans|Nov. 5, 2014 President Barack Obama are likely to have informal talks with Russia’s Vladimir Putin as tensions continue to rise over the war in Ukraine.
Both the leaders are scheduled to be at the Asia-Pacific (APEC) summit in Beijing and the G20 summit in Brisbane next week. Although an “official bilateral meeting between Obama and Putin [is] not anticipated,” a senior U.S. officialtells Reuters, “there [is] a good chance they would find time to talk informally at the APEC gathering.” The two will also likely talk about Syria and the ISIS insurgency…….http://reason.com/blog/2014/11/05/obama-and-putin-likely-to-have-informal
Australian organisations and church leaders want climate change on the G20 agenda
Australia: Alternative G20 ‘People’s Summit’ planned for Brisbane, Asian Correspondent, By Rowena Dela Rosa Yoon Nov 04, 2014 BrisCAN-G20 will stage Visioning Another World: The G20 Peoples Summit, a three-day festival packed with events. Programs include conversations, symposiums, creative activities, cultural performances, education, and peaceful demonstrations. It will take place in various locations in Brisbane, aiming to bring together local and international thinkers to collaborate on broad themes such as the economy, growth vs sustainability, environment, climate change, earth rights, dispossession decolonisation, and other issues of social justice. BrisCAN–G20 is concerned about social and economic disparities perpetuated by G20 and the systems it represents.
Various groups and NGOs will join the summit including the Friends of the Earth, OXFAM, National Congress of Australia’s First People, International Trade Union Confederation, Australian Greens and Palm Island Community.
Church Communities call for stewardship
Church groups have also been pressing for environment to be included in the G20 summit.Eleven Brisbane ministers from five churches have formed alliance to call for the Abbott government to pay attention to one of the most pressing issues of the time.
The dean of St John’s Anglican Cathedral, Reverend Peter Catt, who also serves as the group’s spokesperson, said the government did not understand how the economy and the environment are deeply linked, and how the economy operates and how it depends on the environment. Dr Catt views the environment as the foundation of economic growth, prosperity, and “human flourishing”. Noting Christianity’s principle of stewardship, he said, “the Earth is a precious gift and that humans are called to act as stewards.” He added:
Climate change is a deep concern. The G20 leaders should be showing leadership and discussing it at the top of their agenda when they meet in our city.“It would be wonderful if a meeting held in our city led the way to sustainable life and a healthy economy.
The ministers call on the Australian Government, which has control of the agenda, to deal with climate change as a priority. http://asiancorrespondent.com/127944/australia-alternative-g20-peoples-summit-set-in-brisbane/
G20 Agenda carefully avoids the subject of Climate Change
Climate change hopes for G20 diminished, SMH, November 4, 2014 Peter Hannam Environment Editor, The Sydney Morning Herald Climate change will remain all but absent from the G20 summit, with a related energy efficiency plan omitting mention of global warming as a motivation for curbing energy use, according to a draft.
Hopes had been raised when a paragraph on dealing with climate change was added to the draft communique being circulated among the world’s leading economies, who will all attend this month’s G20 summit in Brisbane.
However, the latest details – a draft of the “energy efficiency” section of the talks in which climate change is to be relegated – have dashed hopes the issue will get much, if any, focus.
The Energy Efficiency Action Plan does not make any mention of climate change, and instead stresses the role of efficiency in boosting energy security and improving “environmental outcomes”.
That’s despite this weekend’s release of the latest report of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change warning of irreversible damages from a warming planet with temperatures on track to rise as much as 4-5 degrees by century’s end on current greenhouse gas emissions trajectories……….
Dermot O’Gorman, chief executive of WWF-Australia, said there is still time for the Abbott government to modify the agenda of the meeting. “While we welcome any focus on energy efficiency, climate change is still not a stand-alone agenda item at the G20 and it needs to be,” Mr O’Gorman said. “In its current form, this so-called Energy Efficiency Action Plan is little more than a commitment to keep talking.”…….http://www.smh.com.au/business/g20/climate-change-hopes-for-g20-diminished-20141104-11grej.html
Malfunctions cause closure of 2 Czech nuclear reactors
2 Czech Nuclear Reactors Closed Due to Malfunctions http://www.theepochtimes.com/n3/1063410-2-czech-nuclear-reactors-closed-due-to-malfunctions/ By Associated Press | November 5, 2014 PRAGUE—An official says a damaged water pipe has forced the closure of two of the four nuclear reactors at a Czech power plant.
Petr Spilka, a spokesman for the Dukovany plant, says the decision poses no safety threat.
He said the problem arose Monday on one of the three pipes used for cooling the plant’s technical and security systems.
He said Wednesday that authorities decided to shut down two nuclear reactors because it was not able to fix the problem in three days, a requirement of safety regulations. The two remaining reactors at the plant have not been affected. It is not immediately clear how much time it will take to fix the problem.
US Secretary of State says Iran has right to peaceful nuclear program
“They have a right to a peaceful program, but not a track to a bomb,” Mr. Kerry said, flanked by French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.
The U.S. and other world powers are in a race to persuade Iran to dismantle nuclear activities that Western countries say are aimed at constructing nuclear weapons. Iran insists it has a right to develop its nuclear program, which it says is designed for civil purposes only.
Mr. Kerry is due to travel to Oman in the coming days before the nuclear talks move to Vienna ahead of a Nov. 24 deadline.
British Nuclear Test Veterans Association call for official recognition and compensation for radiation-caused illnesses
THE son of a veteran who died because of exposure to nuclear test blasts has backed plans for a benevolent fund to be established.
British Nuclear Test Veterans Association chairman Nigel Heaps, from Castle Donington, made the comments after it emerged nine political parties were backing moves for the fund.
In 2012, an inquest ruled Mr Heaps’s father, Derek, died partly due to radiation exposure while working as an engineer in the RAF on Christmas Island.
Derek witnessed a blast from a plane and visited Malden Island, where a bomb had been set off.
The inquest concluded his death at the age of 78 from myelofibrosis – a type of leukaemia – could have been caused by radiation exposure.
The association fronted by Nigel is calling for veterans to be officially recognised by the Government, awarded compensation and given a medal in honour of their service……….http://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/NUCLEAR-VICTIMS-Son-backs-fund-veteran-radiation/story-24170460-detail/story.html

Nuclear power – a safety time bomb
Nuclear power is dangerous.Gamer’s Blog 3 Nov 14 Safety issues are ongoing in nuclear power plants. Accidents on these sites can bring devastating consequences, leading to casualties and the radioactive fallout. Several nuclear accidents around the world have proven that a nuclear power plant is nothing more than a time bomb……..http://gsihn.blogspot.com.au/
Unexplained drone flights over France’s nuclear plants
France investigates unexplained drone activity over nuclear plants Radio Australia 31 October 2014,
France launches an investigation into unidentified drones that have been spotted over nuclear plants operated by state-owned utility EDF, says the interior minister.
France has launched an investigation into unidentified drones that have been spotted over nuclear plants operated by state-owned utility EDF, says the interior minister.
Seven nuclear plants across the country were flown over by drones between October 5 and October 20, an EDF spokeswoman said, without any impact on the plants’ safety or functioning………The drone sightings may renew concerns about the safety of nuclear plants in France, the world’s most nuclear-reliant country, with 58 reactors on 19 sites operated by EDF…….
Unfair advantage to nuclear power as it gets privileged status at universities
miningawareness
miningawareness.wordpress.com 29 Oct 14 There are many groups (e.g. FOE, Beyond Nuclear) using law suits to try to protect the public from nuclear, which we never hear about. Without them we would be in even more trouble.
But, even US public universities became majority private funded over 20 years ago, via “Grant monies”. Also, the rich literally buy positions for their kids, and perhaps selves, to be professors via endowments. Canadian universities have been corrupted by mining interests for at least as long, probably longer, and by the World Bank, etc. Think of the McGill U. prof promoting asbestos. Little room for those who are unwilling or unable to get grants.
That little non-grant room is occupied by nepotism or direct patronage. Non-public monies started making inroads in France around the same time, but to a lesser extent, probably because even many French companies are govt. owned. Also, critical minds lost their teaching positions in the UK and US during the Red Scare. So, we are very much reaping all of that corrupted ideological influence.
Now is the time for non-nuclear business people to get mad at the unfair advantage given to the nuclear industry.

I hope that you and everyone see this imminent risk of a fuel pool fire from Sellafield and spread the word:http://www.theecologist.org/News/news_analysis/2611216/leaked_sellafield_photos_reveal_massive_radioactive_release_threat.html
