Emissions-cutting
pledges made by about 130 countries and 50 fossil fuel companies at the
start of the UN climate summit will still leave the world far off track in
limiting global warming to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels, according to
an analysis from the International Energy Agency.

Together, the countries
account for more than half of the world’s gross domestic product, the
agency said. The IEA has calculated that full implementation of a set of
measures that are part of a new global decarbonisation alliance would only
reduce the energy-related emissions gap between the current trajectory and
a 1.5°C scenario by about a third by 2030.

  1. COP28 was a complete joke. No binding resolutions, continued burning of fossil fuel and a “trippling of nuclear power.” No binding agreements as the planet continues to cook from climate change. Natural gas is to be used as a “transition fuel,” until renewable energy is ready. That is wrong and incorrect. They passed resolutions that didn’t address sea level rise, when ocean nations and coastal nations were not even in the room. It was a complete disgrace. Fossil Fuel companies and nuclear power companies were the majority of the vendors hawking their wares. It was a complete waste of time and useless in fighting Climate Change. It was just a very poor publicity stunt that does nothing to reverse climate change and convert to renewable energy now, mitigate climate change effects and get off fossil and nuclear fuel. It was just “green washing” of an environmental catastrophe all because of profit addiction by fossil fuel companies, nuclear power companies and greed addicted for profit electric power utilities. It is a farce.
