The News That Matters about the Nuclear Industry Fukushima Chernobyl Mayak Three Mile Island Atomic Testing Radiation Isotope

Birth defects in the Chernobyl region – nuclear health effects – theme for June 19.

What about studying consequences rather than causes?  Studying birth abnormalities in places where they occur more often than is normal? The Omni-Net Ukraine Birth Defects Prevention Program, came up with this different approach, reported in July 2012.  http://ibis-birthdefects.org/start/pdf/BaltimoreAbstr.pdf Measuring radiation is difficult, and can produce ambiguous results.  But measuring babies with malformations is a concrete matter. Facts are facts here As Dr Vladimir Wertelecki says “ a baby that has no head is a baby that has no head.”

THE PROGRAM

The program started in 2000, conducting a 10 year study on 5 provinces of the Ukraine – measuring and monitoring all newborn babies. The study, led by Dr  Wertelecki, was done in co-operation with Ukraine health authorities.  This was a descriptive epidemiological study. It could prove only a difference between geographical areas. It cannot  prove the cause of difference.

Within 2-3 years it was obvious that the rates of spina bifida and other defects of the nervous system, were many times greater than expected, particularly in one province.  A few years later an excess of conjoined twins (“Siamese twins”) was found. They found other nervous system problems, mainly microcephaly (tiny head) ..  After 10 years of study they published a report showing an excess of frequency of anomalies of nervous system and of these conjoined twins.

This was found especially in the northern half of the province – an area that is a unique ecology niche – mainly wetlands. And this area also has a unique population, an ethnic group living there since recorded history. They live in small villages, very isolated, and they rely completely on local foods.

These foods are all radioactive. The soil there is such that plants absorb many times more radioactivity. People there are absorbing much higher levels of radiation. – 20 times more than there would be in soil 50 km. away.

Dr Wertelecki reminds us that there are many causes of birth abnormalities. One well recognised cause is foetal alcohol syndrome, due to alcoholism in the mother.   However, the program did in fact research this question.  6 universities joined it in a  very well funded and thorough study of pregnant women. It showed that in this Northern area, alcohol use among pregnant women is statistically less than in the Ukraine in general. . Alcohol does not explain the birth abnormalities. Radiation is the obvious major cause.

ABNORMALITIES IN THE DEVELOPING FOETUS- TERATOGENESIS

Little research has been done on the causes of this in humans. Studies on non human species show that foetuses in first three months are about 1000 times more vulnerable to environmental effects.

Dr Wertelecki’s team focused on teratogenesis – changes caused by environmental interference to a developing foetus, a foetus with with normal genes.  This must be distinguished from gene mutations, inherited from parents and the two processes have different effects.  The genetic, inherited defects are most likely to cause mental disability. But with the teratogenic abnormalities, the baby, if it survives, most often is of normal intelligence.

This process can begin very early, before the ovum has been implanted in the wall of the womb –  before the woman knows that she is pregnant. That very early “line” of the embryo can split. In this case – the result is – twins.  This split can be incomplete – resulting in conjoined twins, (“Siamese twins”).  A  fetiform teratoma is a sort of failed Siamese twin,  a monster like mass, containing a mixture of tissues.

Abnormalities that are started at a little later stage of pregnancy include spina bifida, ( opening in lower back  body wall), opening in front body wall with  heart on the exterior,  anencephaly (absence of head or of most of the skull and brain)

Later effects  –  anophthalmia , (missing eyeball) , microphthalmia (tiny eye)

  1. There have been precipitous increases, in the incidences of womens reproductive-related, diseases and syndromes, in the past 50 years, in America. All of these womens-diseases and syndromes Have Increased.
    1. Uterine fibroids
    2. Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome
    3. Endometriosis
    4. Ovarian cysts
    5. Preclampsia
    6. Dysmenorhea

The diseases and syndromes, all involve reproductive issues. They all affect a womans ability to have children. They are all debilitiating in some way. They are painful. They can lead to much more serious complications.

The medical establishment will not come out and say that these diseases, are related to Environmental health issues . Issues like the large increases of estrogenic chemicals in the environment, from the petroleum and chemical industries. Chemicals that surround us in our homes , clothes, cars and food. Chemical that are in plastics and sythetics. Chemical that are in everyday goods in food packaging. The chemicals are everywhere.
The establishment will not talk about the toxic chemicals and radionuclides, that now flood our environment. Chemicals and isotopes that are highly Toxic in very small amounts. Chemicals and elements, that cause Drastic Physiological Changes in womens bodies. These highly potent chemicals, pesticides, and radionuclides cause hormonal disruptions, in the delicate balance, of female reproductive systems.

The worst chemical toxins like, Dioxins, Pthalales, Pesticides are teratogenic and can be mutagenic, as well as hormone disruptors.
By far and a cry ahead of the chemical poisons are the radionuclides, that are mutagenic . Radionuclides can cause heritable conditions. Radionuclides disrupt physiological process in very small amounts. They alone could be accountable, for the exponential increases in uterine fibroids, in the past 50 years.

Uterine fibroids are painful. Quite often doctors perform hysterectomies, because of them.
Here is an example of what the medical establishment calls environmental factors for Uterine Fibroids “Environmental factors: Uterine infections, menstruation at an early age, high blood pressure, usage of birth control pills, obesity, vitamin D deficiency, a diet high in red meat but lower in green vegetables, fruit and dairy, and alcohol intake (mainly beer)”

The medical system in America, blames the victims of uterine fibroids and, other female reproductive illneses. The American medical establishment says these illneses are from bad lifestyle choices, poor genes, or ethnicity. They study certain asian populations and south american populations, that happen to have less pollution and radionuclides, in the environment. They find that these demographies and ethnicities have lower incidence, of female reproductive illneses. Illneses like uterine fibroids. The American Medical establishment will never attribute exposure to Chemicals and Radionuclides as primary causes or, even a minimum cause, in the divergence in American and other populations.

It is odd to me, that the scientists who study radionuclide effects, have many studies that document decreases in male sperm count. Studies of male fertility and viability from radiation and radionuclides that show direct effects. The scientists will say that male human sperm-count is declining precipitously, in males in industrial countries. Industrial countries like China and America.

The medical establishment and researchers, will not address environmental exposure issues.
It is well known in scientific communities, that hormone-disruptors and other potent toxins affect womens reproductive health and related reproductive health issues. The science communities and medical communities choose to ignore them.

    • Alas, too true. In this society , that runs on endless growth and endless consumption, the political and business establishments make sure that there is no funding for the kind of epidemiological research that is needed, to establish these environmental causes of illness.

  2. The Ukrainian medical Compendium like the the one in Germany sis somewhat herbal and natural medicine based. I witnessed this, working in a medical setting in an Ukrainian Community. The Ukrainian women, in that community told pregnant women to avoid any herbs pr herbal medicine, that came from the Ukraine, while they were pregnant. One lady mentioned that some of the herbs were probably radioactive. It does not get any more real than that.

  3. The American Dream Is Alive and Well in China

The American Dream Is Alive and Well—in China

China’s central bank is directing credit into the local economy because it doesn’t trust the private financial market to allocate credit where local markets need it. True to its name, the People’s Bank of China seems actually to be a people’s bank, geared to serving the economy and the public rather than just the banks themselves.
    WEB OF DEBT BLOG

Home ownership has been called “the quintessential American dream.” Yet today less than 65% of American homes are owner occupied, and more than 50% of the equity in those homes is owned by the banks. Compare China, where, despite facing one of the most expensive real estate markets in the world, a whopping 90% of families can afford to own their homes.

Recently released video of Phoenix officers drawing their weapons on a family and threatening to shoot has led to an internal police investigation and a $10 million lawsuit against the city and its police department.

In a statement posted online Saturday, Phoenix police offered their own account of the incident, which began with allegations of shoplifting. The police chief, however, said she was “disturbed by the language and the actions” of the officers, and Mayor Kate Gallego called for change.

“There is no situation in which this behavior is ever close to acceptable,” Gallego said in a statement posted to Twitter on Saturday. “As a mother myself, seeing these children placed in such a terrifying situation is beyond upsetting.”

On May 29, Dravon Ames and his fiancee, Iesha Harper, said they went on a family outing with their two children, London, 1, and Island, 4. Without their knowledge, Island took a doll from a Family Dollar Store, according to a notice of claim dated Wednesday that was filed by former Arizona attorney general Thomas Horne, who is representing Ames and Harper.

A police patrol unit followed the couple’s car. Once the family members entered their babysitter’s apartment complex, an officer approached the vehicle with his gun drawn and yanked open the front door, the claim said.

Despite department rules that require police to wear body cameras, the Phoenix officers were not wearing them, the claim said. But passersby recorded the encounter. The police released one a store, video shows Phoenix police pulling a gun on her parents

The police released one video this week, but there are others online.

“I’m going to put a cap in your a–,” one officer said to Ames as a second policeman, whose weapon was also drawn and pointed at Ames, walked up to the car, the video shows. “I’m going to shoot you in your f—ing face.”

Both statements, Horne wrote in the claim, were made in front of the couple’s children, who were in the rear of the vehicle.

The first officer — who has not yet been named by the department — pulled Ames, 22, from the car, pushed his head to the pavement, handcuffed him and yelled that Ames better follow orders, according to the claim. The officer threw Ames against the car, ordered him to spread his legs and “kicked him in the right leg so hard that the father collapsed.” Then, the officer dragged him upright and punched him in the back, the claim said.

Once Ames was handcuffed and inside the patrol car, the officers focused their attention on Harper and the children, according to the claim.

The two officers pointed their weapons at the visibly pregnant 24-year-old Harper and her children, the video shows and the claim stated.

“The first officer grabbed the mother and the baby around both of their necks, and tried to take the baby out of the mother’s hand,” the claim alleged. “He told her to put the baby on the ground, which she was unwilling to do because the baby could not walk, and the ground consisted of hot pavement.”
The officer tried to rip Harper’s youngest child from her arms, the claim stated. Eventually he threw Harper, who had handed the children to a bystander, into the police car face first and then handcuffed her.

“I could have shot you in front of your f—ing kids,” he said, according to the claim.

Since May 29, the 4-year-old has been having nightmares and is wetting the bed, and Ames, whose car was impounded, has been limping and is without transportation to get to work.
They were detained by the police, the Phoenix New Times reported.

The store manager declined to prosecute for the 4 year old, taking the doll.

Their neighbor was arrested on terrorism charges after confronting the police in the situation and recording the events. This is how the ‘typical American community’ reacted.

  5. One step closer. A radionuclide plume, from a tactical nuclear attack, on iran and it’s reactors, will add as much to the the earth’s radionuclide burden as much as chernobyl and fukushima. Trump, the Mercers, The generals, do not care.

They are almost ready to do it. They have abrogated the treaties. They have built nuclear weapons they have planned to use since 2004, in Iran.

DoD Doctrine on Nuclear Operations Published, Taken Offline
Posted on Jun.19, 2019 in Dept of Defense, “Military Doctrine by Steven Aftergood
The Joint Chiefs of Staff briefly published and then removed from public access a new edition of their official doctrine on the use of nuclear weapons. But a public copy was preserved. See Joint Publication 3-72, Nuclear Operations, June 11, 2019.

The document presents an unclassified, mostly familiar overview of nuclear strategy, force structure, planning, targeting, command and control, and operations.

“Using nuclear weapons could create conditions for decisive results and the restoration of strategic stability,” according to one Strangelovian passage in the publication. “Specifically, the use of a nuclear weapon will fundamentally change the scope of a battle and create conditions that affect how commanders will prevail in conflict.”

The document might have gone unremarked, but after publishing it last week the Joint Chiefs deleted it from their public website. A notice there states that it (JP 3-72) is now only “available through JEL+” (the Joint Electronic Library), which is a restricted access site. A local copy remains publicly available on the FAS website.”
