I think there is still hope that the climate issue can be dealt with by the Morrison government. Yes, his policies are not as robust as Labor in regards to climate action, but there is a sincere understanding by Mr Morrsion that climate is not only a national issue but also a societal issue. It will definitely be interesting to see what happens in the early months of the new term. I wrote an article about the election on my blog if you would be interested in reading it.
Thank you.levinelowdown I don’t share your belief in Scot Morrison;s genuine concern for climate action. The Liberal Party as it now stands, is the vassal of the mining and other corporations. However, Morrison is savvy enough to avoid the climate denialism of the extreme right wing in his party. Now that Tony Abbott has gone, there is a chance that Morrison will navigate through the troubled waters of the cross-benchers, and make a few nods in the direction of the moderates in the Liberal Party, and that will surely include some action on climate change.
Thank you, I read your good clear articles https://thelevinelowdown.com/2019/05/19/the-liberal-party-wins-the-election/ https://thelevinelowdown.com/2019/05/18/tony-abbott-is-gone/ and had a good chuckle about Tony and the onion. I has forgotten that.
Yes I agree that climate change isn’t in the forefront of Liberal thinking but I think there is a glimmer of hope that some action may be done. I think the scenario is better than if someone else was leading the Liberal Party at this moment (…Dutton) but I guess time will tell.
Thank you for your kinds words 🙂
Not so much time left. If they start burying nuclear waste and parking Hi level waste everywhere in Auastralia, time to act. You have a very crooked government there. it would not surprise me if they push it through.
Trrump is doing it hwre. I hope people will act.
Jeffrey St. Clair, an old time antinuclear advocate, now says the nuclear issue is more serious, than the climate issue. It is in America for sure.
The northern midwest, has been flooding around several nuclear reactors in Minnesota, Nebraska, and Iowa where there are nuclear reactors. Many close calls this spring . The ground there is saturated with water.
The same for the south. Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee. 5 feet of water in Houston. Small towns wiped out, all the way to the STP reactor on the coast of Texas.
Hurricane season is starting . Many places with reactors have flooded with high and have high, geound saturation levels. Trump and Perry have gutted supervision, of reactors in the USA. A fukushima event or two here, will effect the whole world. It will effect australia too.
Thank you, Gloria,, for this timely warning to Australians. Your comment will be posted on our Australian site http://www.antinuclear.net
