Clean renewable energy a remedy for global warming and pollution

Opinion: Moving to clean, renewable energy would mitigate both climate change, pollution New Jersey Journal, By Tony Giordano, 6 April 14In the recent report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), climate scientists state that growing evidence has caused them to raise the certainty of man-made climate change to 95 percent. Though some people cling stubbornly to any sliver of uncertainty about climate change, 95 percent certainty is quite high for a cautious, conservative institution like science……….

These warnings aren’t alarmist academic musings. The warnings are based on reams of data gathered over many years and analyzed by many of the world’s leading scientists, who describe the evidence for these warnings as “overwhelming” and they say the science is #8220;unequivocal.” Accordingly, they call for immediate remedial action by governments around the world.

Some remedial actions would address several of these threats at once. For example, moving to clean, renewable energy would mitigate both climate change and pollution. For this reason, many scientists have endorsed proposals for a carbon fee to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that pollute the air and water and cause climate change. This is one thing our government can and should do — now. Governments in a number of other countries are ahead of us on this.

carbon-footprintRather than despair over these foreboding threats, people can take a number of positive steps. History tells us that our government acts when masses of people demand action. In addition to reducing our personal footprint, the best thing we can do is demand immediate action from our elected representatives to address these dangers to all life on Earth.

  1. The IPCC DID NOT conclude that global warming is 95% caused by man. The IPCC determined with a 95% confidence that HALF of the global warming seen in the last century was man caused. They didn’t say anything about the other half. Besides, in the last 17 years, there has been no global warming. 1/2 of zero is zero.

  2. The last 17 years is a relatively short period in the total picture of steady average global temperature rise over 150 years. By your own argument, if human activities caused only half the rise, then there are other factors at play, too. The pause in the global temperature rise may be due to changes in solar activity, or to the effect of temporarily low stratospheric water vapour, or to the influence of the El-Nino Southern Oscillation cycle, which has been in an unusually long La Nina phase.
Climate scientists never predicted that global warming would occur in a straight line. There have been other pauses n the process, and there will be more.
The averag global warming figures could be skeweed because of a few outlying areas where temperatures were exceptionally cool.
What is predicted is a continued rise in temperatures as humans continue activities that emit greenhouse gases, and as thawed permafrost allows more methane to enter the atmosphere, and as oceans warm.

    • Did you see this:

“This Map Shows All the Antineutrinos Spewed Out By Nuclear Plants”

Doesn’t it seem like this antineutrinos would contribute to warming the environment?

      • i am in europe and it looks nasty though i would prefer data as numbers so i could get a better perspective imo.. the graphics still tell a story though doesnt it.. we had a nuclear release form hungary at the budapest medical isotope institute and the map of europe would show about a doubling of the base line around europe in gamma and alot of beta.. the measurement near the nuke site was above 0.8 mcSv/h .. and that was the lower end i suspect .. likely a bit higher nearer source 😦 thanks for posting the link

    • wow christina.. great answer.. fionna fox would disagree as she gets shit loads of money from shell etc.. i suspect your joined up, wide perspective is neaerer the truth as mars is warming up.. i liked the low level water vapour bit (caused by planes and other industrial causes ) and there is some chemical action at work too .. probably more than one.. and CO2 is easily measured and widely studied .. arent humans stupid.. we need drastic change.. a new paradigm in how we live.. ps i got busby to run the stats on the aluminium fuel cell and he agrees that it would produce about 10 times the joules that a lead battery does.. he used a big scientific book, a pen and a calculator in front of me.. he was surprised .. so an aluminium fuel cell is being blocked like the mobile phone cancer connection (no phones means less rare earths (so goodbye chinas mining) ) and the effects of fukushima.. not to mention monsanto .. so thats all the sciences corrupted by the corporations and governemnts .. what a nut to crack!! but we are getting there imo 🙂

      • Hi arclight, Have you personally met Dr. Busby? If the answer is yes and if you ever see him again, please let him know that I and many people have great respect and admiration for him. He’s one of the heroes.

      • you bet.. libbe LaHavrey of nuclear hotseat will be doing an interview with him in the near future.. i am actually staying at this house as he is one of the few people in the UK who is helping me out as i have been targetted by the NDEU ( UK security/police).. i will be relocating to Ireland soon to escape the harrassment.. I cant see why they are upset with me? 😉 peace
