Nuclear waste from France to be dumped in Mississippi?
Cottonmouth – Is Mississippi going to be storing France’s Nuclear Waste? http://yallpolitics.com/index.php/yp/post/35788/ 28 Aug 13, While Bryant and his entourage were having a good time in Paris sampling the French lifestyle, did they take a moment to consider how most of the lights are powered there? You may be surprised to find out it’s nuclear power. France generates about 75 percent of its electricity needs from nuclear power. Their nuclear waste has to go somewhere, right? Why not Mississippi?
During their trip to France, did Bryant and his MDA director negotiate a deal with the French government to house that country’s nuclear waste?
Representatives from the Mississippi Energy Institute noted that they know of communities, that they did not specify, which are interested in this project. Were they referring to communities in France instead of Mississippi?

Your post is about French waste being sent to Mississippi so your picture doesn’t even make sense here. We ask you to delete it from these two posts. It is rude and unfair. France is one big abandonned uranium mine. There is no reason that they or anyone else should poison one of the rare places on earth that has never had uranium mining and mostly no mining at all (Mississippi). Instead it has tree farms and proposed biofuel plants. It gets enough sun to light up the entire USA.
Mississippi has a very low population and the only nuclear power plants which it has are on the Louisiana border side, on the river, and probably don’t serve it. Mississippi is one of the greenest and environmentally most pristine states. It has small scale oil production but little or no mining at all. It is now endangered by fracking too.
It has rare remaining world forest. It is one of the rainiest and greenest places on earth, resembling pictures one can see of the Amazon rainforest. Salt dome plus rain doesn’t mix is a no-brainer. A pre-school kid knows this. Nuclear waste and rain doesn’t mix is a no-brainer. Metal canisters, salt, and Nuclear waste dump and rain doesn’t mix is a no-brainer. Unlike the UK they haven’t been idiotic enough to approve new build in Mississippi to my knowledge. MISSISSIPPI IS NOT A DESERT LIKE MUCH OF AUSTRALIA AND THE WESTERN US from whence you probably come. MISSISSIPPI IS GREEN with no mining. Mississippi has the highest black population in the USA. Unlike the UK there has not been a “new build” for nuclear in Mississippi since the 1970s and those existing power plants are in the poorest and most black area of Mississippi. Unlike Australia, Canada, and much of the US there is no uranium mining. The proposed dump is also on the opposite side of the state from the power plant. Mississippi has NO major cities, is very poor, and has very few people so they are not using much energy either. This idea of making Mississippi a dump is racist, anti-tree, anti-environment and anti-poor people. That particular area is also noted for A plus air and water quality. Mississippi DID have a nuclear test done there in 1964 but they lied to the people about the repercussions and I am sure that they didn’t have a choice in the matter. These people pick on the poor and low educational people. Perhaps if you would visit Mississippi you wouldn’t be so nasty and unfair. The people using the most energy are in urban areas. Mississippi has NO truly urban areas. Its only cities are in neighboring states. Those that are being picked as waste dumps are poor, rural areas with no voice. It makes no sense why you bother with this blog. You want the last unpoisoned part of the earth which still has trees to be destroyed? If not, why do you mindlessly attack critics of a nuclear waste dump in a pristine environment?
[…] is also full of old uranium mines which are alleged to have caused its people health problems. https://nuclear-news.net/2013/08/29/nuclear-waste-from-france-to-be-dumped-in-mississippi/ So, let’s see, according to her idea once Australians and the French have destroyed their own […]

We are still waiting for you to remove this cartoon and to apologize to the two bloggers (and politician) whose positions you have misrepresented. Or, maybe you should come out and say that you want to send Australian nuclear waste to the Amazon? That is no different from supporting French waste or anyone else’s sent to Mississippi. Mississippi has all of its wastes on site. My God! What gall you do have woman! You are neither indigenous Australian nor from Mississippi nor from France. Why aren’t you looking out for the Scottish highlands where the UK would like to put a dump? If you are looking after the world then you must look after the trees. How dare you criticize other people for protecting their green homeland which has no mining when you have made Australia a desert from mining! It is almost certain that Mississippi uranium was sourced from the US or Canada . So it REALLY has nothing to do with you other than Australia sends uranium to Europe. You don’t know what you are talking about and you won’t even correct or apologize!
the scottish highlands? never heard of
Dounreay is on the north coast of Caithness, in the Highland area of Scotland. Dounreay was originally the site of a castle and its name derives from the Gaelic for ‘fort on a mound.’ Wikipedia
they cant even clean up the contamination on the sea bed and its heading to norway too!!
concerning
We are still waiting for you to remove this cartoon and to apologize to the two bloggers (and politician)
why dont the bloggers leave a comment so we can have a discussion? whats with the angst?
it would be cool if the much maligned politician could leave a comment as well..
the wonders of transparency imo
