Investigate Booz Allen Hamilton, not Edward Snowden

The firm that formerly employed both the director of national intelligence and the NSA whistleblower merits closer scrutiny
Military contractor Booz Allen Hamilton of McLean, Virginia, has shot into the news recently over two of its former employees: Edward Snowden, the whistleblower who has just revealed the extent of US global spying on electronic data of ordinary citizens around the world, and James Clapper, US director of national intelligence.
Clapper has come out vocally to condemn Snowden as a traitor to the public interest and the country, yet a review of Booz Allen’s own history suggests that the government should be investigating his former employer, rather than the whistleblower.
Clapper worked as vice-president at Booz Allen from 1997 to 1998, while Snowden did a three-month stint at their offices in Hawaii in spring 2013 as a low-level contract employee. Both worked on intelligence contracts, which are estimated to make up almost a quarter of the company’s $5.86bn in annual income. This past weekend, Clapper condemned Snowden’s leak about US government surveillance, telling NBC News’s Andrea Mitchell:
“For me, it is literally – not figuratively – literally gut-wrenching to see this happen because of the huge, grave damage it does to our intelligence capabilities. This is someone who, for whatever reason, has chosen to violate a sacred trust for this country. I think we all feel profoundly offended by that.”
The following day Snowden replied from a hotel in Hong Kong, in an interview with Glenn Greenwald of the Guardian:
“The government has granted itself power it is not entitled to. There is no public oversight. I realised that I was part of something that was doing far more harm than good.”
Booz Allen reacted with anger in a press statement released hours later:
“News reports that this individual has claimed to have leaked classified information are shocking, and if accurate, this action represents a grave violation of the code of conduct and core values of our firm.”
Core values? Let’s examine Booz Allen Hamilton’s track record.
In February 2012, the US air force suspended Booz Allen from seeking government contracts after it discovered that Joselito Meneses, a former deputy chief of information technology for the air force, had given Booz Allen a hard drive with confidential information about a competitor’s contracting on the first day that he went to work for the company in San Antonio, Texas. US air force legal counsel concluded (pdf):
“Booz Allen did not uncover indications and signals of broader systemic ethical issues within the firm. These events caused the air force to have serious concerns regarding the responsibility of Booz Allen, specifically, its San Antonio office, including its business integrity and honesty, compliance with government contracting requirements, and the adequacy of its ethics program.”
It should be noted that Booz Allen reacted swiftly to the government investigation of the conflict of interest. In April that year, the air force lifted the suspension – but only after Booz Allen had accepted responsibility for the incident and fired Meneses, as well as agreeing to pay the air force $65,000 and reinforce the firm’s ethics policy.

Nevada refuses nuclear waste
Sandoval doesn’t want ‘dirty bomb’ material near Las Vegas
Nevada’s governor is telling the federal government the state doesn’t want highly radioactive waste of the type that could be used to build a “dirty bomb” buried in a shallow pit at the former national nuclear proving ground north of Las Vegas.
The federal Energy Department is reviewing Gov. Brian Sandoval’s letter opposing plans to ship about 400 canisters of waste from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee to the Nevada National Security Site, agency spokeswoman Aoife McCarthy said Friday.
Sandoval, a Republican former federal judge and state attorney general, accused the Energy Department of trying to set a dangerous precedent by exploiting a regulatory loophole to classify the waste as a low-level hazard so that it can be buried at the former test site about 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas. The governor said the material should be handled as high-level radioactive waste.
“This dangerous waste should be managed in the same manner as remote-handled transuranic waste,” Sandoval said, noting that the Energy Department provides hands-free handling and permanent deep-geologic storage of similar material at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant near Carlsbad, N.M.
Fukushima: A Stunning Report Brushed Aside by the Japanese Government
The article is published online on The Asia Pacific Journal: Japan focus
http://www.japanfocus.org/events/view/184
Thierry Ribault Researcher at CNRS
June 10, 2013
…..The Japanese government is revising history. It has been helped in this task by the French president, seven high-level ministers, and other Parliament members and industrial representatives during the state visit to Japan from 6 to 8 of June. The delivery of the 10 tons of MOX fuel which left La Hague on April 17, will also help the Japanese government to reopen nuclear power plants……
….At the same conference in Geneva at which Grover’s report was released, the Japanese government presented a counter report dated May 27, that dismisses Grover’s conclusions. According to Japanese authorities the “scientific basis” of Grover’s report is totally lacking. The “scientific basis” that the Japanese government relies on instead is the basis provided by WHO, UNSCEAR, ICRP and IAEA experts….
….“Intervention trials should be done scientifically and ethically. Why is blood testing or urine testing required? Because of the possibility of what type of disorder is such testing justified? The idea is unacceptable because, we should not unnecessarily burden the local citizens by forcing medically unjustified examinations on them.”…..
On May 27, Anand Grover, Special Rapporteur to the United Nations Human Rights Council, released a report on his November 2012 mission to Fukushima. The UN Council did their job – to protect – or at least clearly expressed their intention to do so. This article outlines the main conclusions of Grover’s sharply critical report which is available for download here. In his report, Grover describes the extent of the disaster:

“The amount of radioactive cesium (137C) released due to the nuclear accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Plant is estimated to be 168 times higher than that released by the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. According to TEPCO, the accident released 900 petabecquerel of radioactive iodine and cesium…. Other radioactive materials released due to the nuclear accident include radioactive Tellurium (129mTe, 129Te), Silver (110mAg), Lanthanum (140La) and Barium (140Ba).”
The Rapporteur also argues strongly that the old methods of masking the stark reality of radiation exposure used by Soviet authorities after Chernobyl should no longer be acceptable. In the years since Chernobyl, we have learned much more about health damage due to radiation exposure including chromosomal aberrations, increased childhood and adult morbidity, impairment and leukemia. According to Grover, the scientific record demonstrating the link between long term exposure and radiation at low doses and the development of cancers can no longer be dismissed as insignificant. [For more information on the controversy concerning Chernobyl studies and the gaps in scientific knowledge about the health effects of radiation, see Matthew Penney and Mark Selden, What Price the Fukushima Meltdown? Comparing Chernobyl and Fukushima]
In the Japanese case, Grover criticizes the lack of effective distribution of stable iodine tablets to the population. He also questions the health protection system for nuclear workers: access to medical examination is not systematic (contrary to law) and the results of the examinations which are carried out are not adequately transmitted to the authorities. Finally, the labour force employed by subcontractors, a large majority of those working at Fukushima Daiichi, does not have a guarantee of access to such screenings. [For more information on the problems faced by workers at the Fukushima Daiichi site, see Gabrielle Hecht, Nuclear Janitors: Contract Workers at the Fukushima Reactors and Beyond] .
The right to health is not respected
Concerning the zoning system around the nuclear plant, Grover reminds us of the unacceptability threshold decided for Chernobyl in 1991: any higher than 1 mSv per year and the population was not allowed to return and live and work in contaminated areas. In Fukushima this threshold has been set at the level of 20 mSv per year. In areas with radiation measured at rates between 20 and 50 mSv, the population can freely access the contaminated areas during the day.
The Rapporteur criticizes the use of “cost-benefit analysis” made by the Japanese authorities (following the ICRP recommendations) since such analysis does not respect the fundamental right to health of individuals. Grover argues that “collective interests” should never dominate individual rights, notably the right to health. Thus, he calls on the Japanese government to lower the threshold of exposure under which individuals are allowed to return to contaminated areas, and urges that displaced people receive compensation and free health protection in areas exceeding 1 msv per year.
David Cameron Tax Evasion Exposé – Security service cover up?

The sensational Carroll Foundation Trust and parallel Carroll Maryland Trust billion dollars offshore tax evasion fraud scandal which is now encircling 10 Downing Street and the City of London banking institutions has revealed that David Cameron’s offshore tax haven trust Blairmore Inc. is thought to be a central actor in this case of international importance.
Sources have confirmed that the new explosive FBI Scotland Yard cross-border prosecution files have also named Smith Williamson Holdings Ltd. and Smith Williamson Investment Management Ltd. the financial services and accountancy firm who as it now turns out were appointed to represent the Carroll Foundation immediately prior to the systematic break-up and criminal liquidation of the Carroll Global Corporation industrial empire spanning an incredible sixteen years.

Further sources have disclosed that Smith Williamson are believed to be closely linked to David Cameron’s Blairmore Inc. offshore trust which has prompted well seasoned political observers in Washington DC to remark that the inordinate delays to the arrest and prosecution of the Scotland Yard targeted Anthony Clarke London Business Angels crime syndicate operation is a disturbing reminder of the serious level of corruption within the UK Government’s inter-agencies who are charged with the prosecution of white collar criminal bankers accountants and lawyers.
http://carrolltrustcase.com/uncategorized/david-cameron-tax-evasion-expose/
Blairmore Holdings, meanwhile, continues to go from strength to strength. According to the company’s own listing with the Financial Times, the value of the fund’s investments has increased by 8.5% in the last three years.
The sensational Carroll Foundation Trust and parallel Carroll Maryland Trust billion dollars offshore tax evasion fraud scandal which is now encircling Wall Street New York and City of London banking institutions has revealed that the UK Government’s powerful GCHQ Government Communications Center is understood to be deeply involved in this case of international importance.

Sources have confirmed that the new explosive FBI Scotland Yard cross-border prosecution files contain a compelling evidential paper trail involving the fraudulent incorporation of a diversionary shadow criminal parallel offshore trust which effectively impulsed this massive fraud heist operation that stretches the globe.
Further sources have confirmed that the dossiers contain specimen exhibits surrounding the shocking weapons attacks that were targeted at two of the primary victims in what is believed to have been a bungled attempt by the Anthony Clarke London Business Angels crime syndicate to effectively airbrush out the very existence of the Carroll Foundation Trust which in itself is the ultimate corporate victim in this fraud spanning a staggering sixteen years.
The Carroll Foundation Trust files are held within a complete lockdown at the FBI Washington DC field office and the Metropolitan Police Scotland Yard London under the supervision of the commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe who is known to have an intimate knowledge of this major public interests case.
The sensational Carroll Foundation Trust billion dollars “cross-border” white collar organised crime case has named Hogan Lovells the international law firm as an “expert witness” in their capacity as the lawyers who represented IKEA the home furnishings retailer who acquired the Carroll Trust’s Valley Park Croydon retail complex site.
Sources have confirmed that the Carroll Trust’s lawyer who conducted this major commercial property transaction is a former Dentons property partner Michael Alexander who is now the principle partner of the Essex law firm of Alexander Lawyers LLP Chelmsford. It has emerged that the compelling criminal evidential Carroll Trust files state that Michael Alexander has continued to co-ordinate with the Carroll Global Corporation’s auditors Edward Robinson & Co and Kingston Smith concerning the “Alexander IKEA Carroll” material which is held in custody by the FBI and Scotland Yard in this case of international importance.
It is understood that the Alexander law firm criminal files contain forged and falsified RBS Coutts & Co Gerald Carroll Trust account transfers running into tens of millions of dollars linked to fraudulent Barclays HSBC International Carroll Trust offshore accounts. Well seasoned City of London financial observers have said that these huge embezzled funds flowed from various companies under the umbrella of the Carroll Foundation centred around the mind boggling sixty million dollars Carroll Trust land sale to IKEA who established what is known today as the IKEA Croydon retail complex. Further sources have leaked that the authorities retain in custody the Carroll IKEA Croydon destination of “tracked” funds forensic evidential material which forms an integral component of this massive tax fraud heist operation that stretches the globe over a staggering sixteen years.
The Carroll Foundation Trust case files are held within a complete “lockdown” at the FBI Washington DC field office and the Metropolitan Police Scotland Yard London under the supervision of the commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe who is known to have an intimate knowledge of this major public interests case.

In a stunning twist it has emerged that the newly knighted Sir Tony Baldry MP a highly respected criminal barrister and a senior figure in the Church of England who is retained by the Carroll Trust has also close links with Smith Williamson which is fueling speculation in Westminster that this massive billion dollar tax fraud case could soon seriously threaten David Cameron’s position as Prime Minister in what well seasoned political observers now regard as the largest ever society scandal that is now embroiling senior members of the British Royal family.

Nuclear Controversies, by Wladimir Tchertkoff, 51min, 2004
English script:
http://vivretchernobyl.blogspot.com/2……
Commentary:
My friends, you have been lied to about the hazards of radiation your entire life (at least since the 1940s). An ongoing information war rages, and I do have some hope for progress. While the media repeats obvious lies about the death toll in Chernobyl (“43” absurd in the extreme) most regular people just don’t believe what they’re hearing from the pro-nuclear pundits.
This Swiss investigation of the Chernobyl cover-up is must-see viewing for anyone who would ever consider typing a thought about radioactivity. I have transcribed some of the highlights, including admissions by the head of the World Health Organization, front and center…
“Because the IAEA reports directly to the Security Council of the UN, and we all specialized agencies report to the Economic and Development Council. The organization which reports to the Security Council–not hierarchically, we are all equal–but for atomic affairs, military use and civil use, peaceful or civil use they have the authority. They command.”
-Dr. Hiroshi Nakajima, former head of UN World Health Organization
The IAEA has the job of promoting atomic energy worldwide. They are not a trustworthy source for information about health effects of radioactivity. The system has been designed such that the organization which promotes atomic power has supremacy over the health monitoring organizations, and the WHO can simply be blocked from investigating, as happened here:
“In 1995 the Director General of WHO, Dr. Hiroshi Nakajima, tried to inform on Chernobyl by organizing in Geneva an international conference with 700 experts and physicians. This tentative was blocked. The International Agency for Atomic Energy blocked the proceedings which were never published. The truth on the consequences of Chernobyl would have been a disaster for the promotion of the atomic industry.” (Nuclear Controversies)
In my recent article, The UN Would Never Lie to George Monbiot, I explored this IAEA role in more depth. A 2006 IAEA “study” on the 20th anniversary of the Chernobyl meltdown claimed it had a “consensus” of “100 leading scientists.” How does this measure up to the “700 experts and physicians” that the IAEA had a hand in silencing a decade before?
The “consensus” myth is a Big Lie. Those that repeat the IAEA’s arguments without investigating this matter fully are either incompetent (which is the generous assessment) or downright evil. Children are sick and dying because of the failure of governments to acknowledge that radioactivity — even in very small doses — destroys life, creates deformities in the body, causes cancers and myriad other conditions. Children across the region are suffering horribly. Up to one million have died as a result of Chernobyl, as of 2006 (Yablokov et. al.).
If you’re not going to watch NUCLEAR CONTROVERSIES right now, then here are the highlights. Use them well.
“The representative for the International Agency for Atomic Energy (A. Gonzales) maintains that the Chernobyl catastrophe caused 31 deaths of a few hundred highly irradiated individuals and 2,000 thyroid cancers in children. This UN agency recognizes only validated data, validated by the laboratories of Los Alamos and the French Atomic Energy Commissariat, CEA, two atomic bomb makers.”
“Nesterenko is the only scientist who systematically measured the internal artificial radioactivity (of children in the contaminated zone). His measures show that contamination is 8 times higher than that published by the Minister of Health, who tried to stop him.”
“According to Professor Bandazhevsky over 50 bequerels per kilo body weight lead to irreversible lesions in vital organs.”
“On June the 18th Yuri Bandazhevski, author of more than 400 scientific publications and 8 monographs, owner of 7 patents, member of 5 academies, recipient of 5 international awards was condemned by the military court of the Supreme Court of Belarus to 8 years in a work camp for alleged corruption. One year of inquiry could produce no proof against him.”
“Today out of 100 children in Belarus, ony 20 can be declared to be healthy. Before the Chernobyl catastrophe the number was 80 out of 100. The IAEA, the UNSCEAR and the World Health Organization, who do not study the effects of the internal contamination by incorporated radionuclides, have no explanation for the increased incidence of somatic pathologies in those children.”

A friend of the apartment owner came to install the washing machine last night.
Because he kept on asking me what I do and if I had a “proper” journalism education etc.., I told him about Fukushima accident.
In this far remote town of Romania, he has hardly heard about Fukushima accident and thought it was shut down 5 years ago.
I casually explained the situation but I stopped because it was so obvious that he was turning so sad and depressed. Welcome to my world.
It’s about a year (+ 1 week) since I left Europe to North America last year and had interrogations at Vienna airport and Toronto airport. I was even scared of writing about that. The situation hasn’t changed much but I’m used to it.
I haven’t seen a bird with a suitcase. I had to leave so many things on the way.
Having no home, but only 2 jackets and 3 pairs of pants is one of the most scary things in the world. However I’m not going to quit it. My anger against the media, old industry, and hope for the next world are overwhelming my fear.
Since I went to North America, Summer, Autumn, Winter passed and Summer is coming back again.
It was Autumn when I was in Brooklyn. Decreasing temperature and cold winds can make you insecure. I didn’t even know how to live after leaving America in November. Should I go to Morocco? Romania ? Cuba ? I had no idea what I was doing next summer. Looking back that time, I feel funny and I feel the same anxiety about the next year.
However again, I was always saved by someone on the way, mentally and physically. You never know what tomorrow brings. We Japanese lost the stable base. The situation is changing increasingly rapidly. The only thing that I know is they will absolutely get stuck if they try to repeat yesterday because tomorrow is not yesterday.
This apartment in Arad is actually a house built in 1885. It has the second floor but nobody has ever seen it over 100 years. It has a storage in the basement floor, which may be good to stock wine. Nobody is living in both sides of the house. It’s entirely quiet. I’m missing the BOSE speaker that I bought in Japan. I had to leave it in Canada. It was like a symbol of my old life in Japan. It’s a kind of funny that the most unnecessary thing is the heaviest and the largest in your suitcase.
My life changed when I left Japan. It changed when I left America again. Nobody tells me what to do, where to go. I’m trying to discipline myself not to think if I made some mistake in my past. If I’m a vampire, living forever only with blood, maybe I should look back sometimes, but I don’t have infinite amount of time. It’s too soon to judge anyway.
Today and yesterday morning, I couldn’t seriously remember where I was sleeping. It happens.
but I know where I’m heading for. Every time I close my eyes, I can see the not-so-little Japan. I open my eyes and try to find out the way to go.
Japanese can stay as long as they need without visa and any equivalent certificate in Svalbard island (North of Norway). They can come and stay with no legal restriction. In order to research the place, proper equipment is necessary.
Your next support will be spent on the down jacket and pants. Goal : 300$
So far : 0$

Greenpeace Japan held a news conference in Tokyo – June 21, 2013

It’s time Japan’s government and nuclear industry faced its responsibilities at Fukushima
Have you ever tried to dodge your responsibility for something? Maybe in a small way, many of us do.
But I doubt you dodge responsibility the way the nuclear industry does or the way Japanese Prime Minister Abe does.
In Tokyo yesterday, Greenpeace Japan held a news conference to talk about PM Abe and the blinkers he wears about nuclear power. The room was packed. More than 100 attended, including 27 journalists from TV, a newspaper, a wire service and online news, and four members of the Diet.
They were interested in what we had to say about PM Abe’s sales tour in recent months, shaking hands over empty nuclear promises. Turkey, India, Poland and United Arab Emirates have all been his targets.
The crowd at the news conference heard about the problems with nuclear plans in Turkey from campaigner Aslihan Tumer and about the situation in India from campaigner Karuna Raina. The two answered questions for more than five hours.

From Aslihan they learned about the anti-nuclear movement in Turkey. She also talked about the death of the so-called nuclear renaissance since the Fukushima disaster and the emergence of renewable energy. For example, in 2012 enough new renewables were built to produce the equivalent energy of 20 nuclear plants. Without the risks.
India too has a strong anti-nuclear movement. Karuna noted the massive protests in her country against nuclear power and the fight to prevent any dilution of a law that right now includes reactor suppliers and others in liability. Renewables are taking off in India. They now produce 72% more electricity than nuclear.
You wonder why PM Abe is out selling Japan’s nuclear technology when so many people don’t want it and when he has so much work to do to deal with nuclear problems at home.
More than two years after the Fukushima disaster began the costs are enormous, at least $110 billion and possibly up to $250 bn. Yet, General Electric (designer and supplier of reactors 1 and 2 at Fukushima), Toshiba (supplier of reactor 3) and Hitachi (supplier of reactor 4) have walked away without paying a cent towards the compensation for the many thousands of victims or the enormous cost of decontaminating the radioactivity spewed from their reactors.
Abe could spend his time more usefully trying to get some money out of GE, Toshiba and Hitachi, since they aren’t putting their hands in their deep pockets to help pay the bills . So who is? The Japanese people are. Or, rather, they’re having their pockets picked to pay for a disaster that was none of their making.
Why aren’t the Japanese government and Fukushima’s operator TEPCO looking at whether or not GE, Toshiba and Hitachi can be forced to help out? We think they should be.
Don’t think for a moment this is a problem unique to Japan. All over the world, taxpayers are on the hook to pay the massive costs of building, maintaining and decommissioning of nuclear reactors.
Abe and the nuclear companies he’s been out promoting have responsibilities at home. It’s way past time they face up to them.
If you would like to see General Electric, Toshiba and Hitachi made to face their responsibilities, please sign our petition.
