TEHRAN – An Iranian Foreign Ministry official has said that the Mojahadin Khalq Organization is an accomplice in the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast made the remarks in an interview with Al-Alam News Network broadcast on Sunday night in reference to the fact that the U.S. State Department formally removed the MKO from its list of terrorist organizations on Friday.
Mehmanparast said that the MKO has never renounced “terrorist activities” and has only changed its approach.
“The most recent terrorist moves, in which they were involved, were the assassinations of our nuclear scientists in cooperation with the Zionist regime’s security agents,” he stated.

US formally removes MKO from terrorist organizations list

[…]

The United States has formally removed the anti-Iranian Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) from the US State Department’s list of terrorist organizations.

The MKO was taken off the State Department’s blacklist on Friday, a week after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sent the US Congress a classified communication about the move.

The US announced that the decision has been made because the MKO has not carried out any acts of terror over the past 10 years.

This judgment will definitely fail to garner any support with the legal precedent in the world. How could a murderer who has killed thousands of people or one who has ordered such killings be acquitted ten years after the criminal acts?!

The US administration had a performance similar to former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s regime over the past 10 years and maintained close cooperation with the MKO terrorist group. It carried out spy and sabotage operations in cooperation with the MKO terrorists.

The US government kills innocent people in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and other countries every day by its drones and therefore it removed the MKO from its list of terrorist organizations.

The MKO, which has murdered over 17,000 Iranians since the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution in 1979, fled to Iraq in the 1980s, where it enjoyed the support of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and set up Camp Ashraf in the eastern province of Diyala, near the Iranian border.

The group also cooperated with Saddam in the massacres of Iraqi Kurds and in suppressing the 1991 uprisings in southern Iraq.

The MKO has been listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international community and has committed numerous terrorist acts against Iranians and Iraqis.

Iran has repeatedly called on the Iraqi government to expel the group, but the US has been putting pressure on Baghdad to resist the calls.

  1. What exactly does Press TV ever offer that is truthful or factual – they are Iranian state TV, the official propaganda organ, nothing more and nothing less.
