Municipal leaders, nuclear safety advocates and First Nations opposed the plan at a recent hearing at the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission which must grant a license to Bruce Power to move the generators.

CNSC employees initially endorsed the plan. The CNSC is reviewing the submissions it received about the project. It’s expected to make a decision at the earliest by the end of December.

But Bruce Power says even if it was to receive approval, the shipments wouldn’t start until at least the spring.

Spokesman John Peever says there are strict Ministry of Transportation regulation for the moving heavy loads and with the arrival of heavy snow in the Kincardine area it would be impossible to move the loads to the Owen Sound Harbour safely…..Nuclear shipments won’t happen this year – Welland Tribune – Ontario, CA
