Anti-nuclear protests in Bengal make Russia want to change its nuclear sales plan

The Russians are said to be concerned over the manner in which the resistance, which was initially just about the risk of a nuclear plant leading to an increase in water temperature, has become political. ….

A Trinamool minister at the Centre had warned in January that the people of the area would not allow the plant to come up. “How can the Centre and the state government go ahead when they are fully aware of the people’s opposition to the project,” minister of state for rural development Sisir Adhikary had said.
