Russia plans nuclear powered, manned, trips to Mars

Oh those Russians! Apparently they’re so keen to outdo everyone else in nuclear technology – they’re aiming to send men to Mars. I guess, being patriotic Russians, those astronauts don’t mind that radiation in space will give them cancer, or even that scientists are agreed – it would be a one-way trip!

Medvedev made the announcement Thursday during his annual address to the Federal Assembly……………nuclear energy technology could be first tried on satellites, then on cargo spaceships. Manned spacecraft with nuclear power sets could be built and sent to Mars and other planets in the solar system.
