Tax-payer funding to develop small nuclear reactors? Easy, get Defense and the Air Force to buy them.

The Department of the Air Force, in partnership with the Defense Logistics
Agency Energy, reached a critical milestone Aug. 31, in piloting advanced
nuclear energy technology with the issuance of the Notice of Intent to
Award a contract to Oklo Inc. Oklo Inc. will site, design, construct, own
and operate a micro-reactor facility licensed by the Nuclear Regulatory
Commission at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. The notice initiates the
acquisition process to potentially award a 30-year, firm-fixed-price
contract to the vendor after successfully obtaining an NRC license.

Nuclear power whether it is the old boiling water, pressurized water or these new hyped, SMR Small Modulor Reactors whether they are cooled by molten salt, liquid sodium or helium are all too expensive, too dangerous, and TOTALLY UNNECESSARY FOR OUR ENERGY NEEDS! Go to http://thesolutionsproject.org/ and http://rmi.org/ if you still think that we need nuclear power and the continued use of fossil fuel to drive our economy. There is no permanent solution to the nuclear waste problem, all nuclear facilities are targets of terrorists & enemies, they are too expensive to be constructed safely or operated economically, and we have the alternative renewable energy technologies and resources to meet our energy needs without nuclear and fossil fuel. We will not “starve & freeze in the dark,” nor “wreck our economy in the process.” What we really lack is the political will to transition to a renewable energy economy, because the dying fossil fuel & nuclear power industry have bought the votes of the elected leaders from both political parties in the Congress and the State Houses of our country.
