11 March – British peace and anti-nuclear groups will hold two events – reminders of the continuing Fukushima nuclear disaster

CADNO, CND CYMRU and PAWB will hold two events in Menai Bridge and
Abersytwyth on Saturday morning March 11 to note that 12 years have passed
since the disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear station.
Here is some of the latest news about the disaster. The event in Porthaethwy will start
at 10.00 meeting on the Ynys Môn side of the Menai bridge. The Aberystwyth
event will begin at 12.00 from the bandstand on the seafront.
On behalf of CND Cymru their National Secretary Dr Bethan Siân Jones said:
“Politicians at all levels of government who support building new nuclear
reactors should pay close attention to the far reaching and extremely
expensive effects of nuclear disasters.
No country should have to face the
dangers of a catastrophic accident in a nuclear power station. The simple
answer is to stop any plans to build new nuclear reactors. Both Westminster
and Welsh governments should turn their whole attention to developing all
the renewable technologies that are so much cheaper than nuclear power and
much quicker to build.
