¶ The first large-scale ground based solar electricity generation park on the island of Ireland has opened in County Antrim. The 30-acre solar farm at Crookedstone Road, which cost £5 million ($7.21 million) to build, produces up to 5 MW from 20,000 photo-voltaic panels. [RTE.ie]

¶ Chile’s solar industry has expanded so quickly that it’s giving electricity away for free. Spot prices reached zero in parts of the country on 113 days up until April this year, a number that is already on track to beat last year’s total of 192 days, according to Chile’s central grid operator.
