In other words, the US allows 15 times more radiation in its food than Japan does. Anyone of these radioactive shots can induce damage to the cell eventually leading to cancer, or other radiation related disorders.[1] Ingested plutonium and americium stay in the body with a half-life of around 20 years to 50 years, where they continue to cause damage (bioaccumulative).

They don’t want radioactive food either: https://docs.wto.org/dol2fe/Pages/FE_Search/DDFDocuments/132656/q/WT/DS/495-2.pdf
