Comment by November 19th against the attempts by the USNRC to increase public exposure to radiation: Docket ID: NRC-2015-0057Agency: Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)

Former US NRC Counsel Peter Crane on the proposed 100 mSv rule: “Through the RADSAFE online bulletin board, I recently learned that Dr. Carol S. Marcus, a former member of this Committee, filed a petition for rulemaking with the NRC on February 9, 2015. I urge the members of the Committee and other concerned persons in the NRC community to give this document close attention. Not only is it of interest in and of itself, its extremism serves to illuminate the intellectual underpinnings of the Patient Release Rule, which derives from an earlier petition for rulemaking from Dr. Marcus, filed in 1990 and later amended. Regrettably, the Commission did not then appreciate the extent to which Dr. Marcus’s views deviated from the mainstream.http://pbadupws.nrc.gov/docs/ML1510/ML15105A475.pdf…

From Greenpeace:
Hinkley Deal Makes No Economic Sense: Greenpeace
LONDON – Commenting on the agreement struck by French-owned EDF and China’s CGN on Wednesday to build a fleet of new nuclear reactors at Hinkley and other two locations in the UK, Greenpeace UK chief scientist Dr Doug Parr said:

“With this deal George Osborne is not so much backing the wrong horse as betting billions of consumers’ money on a nag running backwards. There’s no end in sight for the nuclear industry’s dependence on billion-pound handouts whilst the renewable sector is on the verge of going subsidy free. Backing the former and punishing the latter makes no economic sense whatsoever. Our grandchildren will one day wonder why their bills are propping up a foreign-owned, outdated, and costly nuclear industry instead of supporting cutting-edge UK firms producing cheap clean energy. There’s no other reason for the government to go through…

From Greenpeace:
When the risks are so high, what would you do?

Blogpost by Daul Jang – 21 October, 2015 at 9:05

Five Greenpeace activists last week entered the security zone of what will soon be the world’s biggest nuclear power plant – the Kori nuclear power plant (NPP) near Busan in South Korea.

Arriving via a black inflatable boat, they climbed out and scampered up a rocky slope unfurling a bright yellow banner in front of the fence of the Kori NPP. For 40 minutes they stood ground as guards looked on, sirens blazed, and warnings from the coast guard were broadcast over the loudspeaker.

The situation at Kori is insane, and it’s only getting worse. The need for action is urgent.

When the next two planned reactors start operation by 2022, it will become the only nuclear power plant with 10 reactors
