The News That Matters about the Nuclear Industry Fukushima Chernobyl Mayak Three Mile Island Atomic Testing Radiation Isotope

Japan’s Abe government relinquishing responsibility for health of Fukushima residents and workers

Fukushima; The Beginning Of The End,  A series of announcements over the last two weeks have shown the Abe administration’s true plan for Fukushima & Japan. As the political class pushes for reactor restarts, their commitment towards Fukushima has turned to outright betrayal.

Starting in 2016 local governments will be forced to pay for part of the reconstruction costs.

Last week the central government announced they plan to reopen any area below 50 mSv/year for people to return by 2017. Areas at 20 mSv/year or below would be reopened in 2016. 20 mSv/year is the international maximum annual radiation exposure for nuclear workers. Now adults and children would be expected to expose themselves to radiation levels at and even above what is permissible for nuclear workers. ICRP cites that the public should not be exposed to more than 1 mSv/year.

The central government plans to end housing assistance for voluntary evacuees by 2017. …….http://www.fukuleaks.org/web/?p=14764

  1. 1- As for workers at nuclear sites, in reference to the French specification, they must have a medical form of ability to be directly engaged in radiation work (DATR) . This is a radiographic test followed by a blood test, probably to see the reactions of the body of the worker subjected to nuclear radiation. Human beings should not be all equal regarding radiation. This certification is issued to adults (over 18). Note that some adults do not pass the test. In addition, workers are on nuclear environment site that radiates during their hours of service.
2- A voluntary amalgamation is done regarding the threshold of direct exposure to radiation alpha, beta and gamma (external radiation) discussed… , and the thresholds of contamination of air and soil, for which there isn’t established values (internal radiation contamination): these elements (radioactive dust, radionuclides in soils and crops, …) are not supposed to get into environment, and not a priori in the body of people by breathing, oral ingestion or skin contact. Therefore, there are not enough studies on the contamination (or internal radiation) made by the competent body (IAEA) to establish standards. Only a few independent scientists bent on cases of victims of Chernobyl.
The Japanese authorities are based mainly on the external radiation exposure to delineate the perimeter drain. This is a serious mistake because the internal radiation exposures (contaminations) are those from what people will suffer the most.
