More problems for Fort Calhoun Nuclear power Plant
More questions for Fort Calhoun nuclear power plant Nebraska Watchdog And you thought questions surrounding the Ft. Calhoun nuclear power plant were in the rear view mirror. Associated Press By Joe Jordan / September 17, 2014 Contact Joe Jordan at joe@nebraskawatchdog.org.
A key critic of the Omaha Public Power District insists they’re not and claims the plant, which has been up and running since December following a nearly 3-year shutdown, has a training problem.
In March the National Nuclear Accrediting Board placed the plant’s Maintenance and Technical Training Program on probation for six months, according to information made public Wednesday by OPPD candidate Jeff Lux.
Lux, who is challenging 18-year-incumbent Anne McGuire in November, says the public was never told about the probation, which he learned through some internal OPPD memos and newsletters.
One of those letters an “OPPD Update” from July said “management hadn’t provided effective oversight and appropriate priorities to resolve some long-standing or recurring weaknesses.”………. http://watchdog.org/171008/nuclear-power-plant/
