Finland’s govt – shaky hold on power, as Greens leave, over nuclear permits

Greens to exit Government over nuclear permits, Helsinki Times, 16 Sept 14, The Green League will resign from the five-party coalition of Prime Minister Alexander Stubb (NCP), if the Government on Thursday shows a green light to the controversial nuclear power project of Fennovoima, chairperson Ville Niinistö declared in a news conference on Monday.
His fellow party members estimated to Helsingin Sanomat that the resignation is all but set in stone.
At present, the Green League is scheduled to convene on Saturday to give its blessing to the exit, a decision that would leave the Government with a slender four-seat majority in the Parliament……….Niinistö issued his threat after Jan Vapaavuori (NCP), the Minister of Economic Affairs, proposed that the Government grant an in-principle approval to Fennovoima. He also revealed that he is set to propose that a decision on the expansion project of Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) at the Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant be taken at a later date…..http://www.helsinkitimes.fi/finland/finland-news/politics/12022-greens-to-exit-government-over-nuclear-permits.html
