Anti uranium rally in Virginia 28th January
Opponents of uranium mining to rally in Virginia , January 23, 2013 By Luci Weldon Residents of Warren and surrounding counties will be among citizens from both North Carolina and Virginia who will participate in a mass rally on Monday 28 Jan at 1 p.m. at the Virginia Legislative Building in Richmond to voice their opposition to uranium mining.
Rally organizers are seeking additional participation by like-minded citizens. The rally comes after a recent vote by the Virginia Commission on Coal and Energy to recommend that Virginia lawmakers draft regulations allowing uranium mining that brings a proposed uranium mine in Virginia’s Pittsylvania County one step closer to becoming reality…..Groups involved in the rally will include North Carolinians and Virginians Against Uranium Mining, North Carolina Citizens Against Uranium Mining, We the People of Virginia Against Uranium Mining and others…..
Rally organizers are inviting local citizens to participate. Buses will be available to transport participants to Richmond, but the meeting place and departure time have not been finalized at this point. Plans will be updated on the website environmentaljusticepollutionprevention.com/ej-pp.
Contributions are being accepted to help cover expenses related to bus transportation.
