Nuclear Exposed Cars To Be Banned From Entering Uganda http://www.ugpulse.com/uganda-news/business/nuclear-exposed-cars-to-be-banned-from-entering-uganda/27254.aspx Trade Minister Amelia Kyambadde wants all cars affected by the nuclear explosion in Japan banned from entering the country.
The explosion was caused by a Tsunami that hit the country earlier leading to the explosion of the Fukishima nuclear power plant affecting residents and automobiles.
Many of the affected cars have been recalled from the market but they continue to be imported into Uganda.
Kyambadde says that the cars were affected by the high radiation that is dangerous to human life.
She warns of more health complications if these cars continued to flood the Ugandan market.
She also wants the pre-export Verification mechanism reinstated to check the quality of imported goods including cars.
The mechanism was stopped on request from the private sector on grounds that it was too costly.
