“..An international nuclear expert has set alarm bells ringing after Belgium shut down a reactor where anomalies including possible cracks were found.
The scare at the site, north of Antwerp, has prompted a warning from specialist Mycle Schneider. He claims inspections did not work and that this sort of fault can cause a nuclear explosion..”
quote from mycel schnieder
“..He said the problems of materials are not innocent and “can lead to that the tank is broken” and that this same causes “explosions”. “A manufacturing defect is naturally a problem and it happens everywhere. But a security system, based on numerous inspections and a whole chain of controls, which does not detect such defects during the year, this should not happen , “he says…”

And this
“..Abnormalities in the steel of Doel are different defects detected in the tanks of some French reactors, said Francois Balestreri, expert at the Institute of Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety. Yet it is the French experience that prompted the Belgians to conduct extensive testing at Doel. “We
have, in the early 80s, identified as coating defects related to the establishment of the coating that covers the stainless steel of the vessel. These defects appear under the coating, in the same steel. They are not progressive, known, identified, monitored and does not jeopardize the safety of our tanks. ” Nothing compared to Belgium: the entire French fleet, 37 defects were identified. August 16, experts will gather in Brussels to exchange knowledge on the phenomenon of attacks on reactor vessels…”

nuclear power plants
Belgium: Doel
“…The situation
The plant is by the Scheldt River 15 kilometres from the city
of Antwerp and just three kilometres from the Dutch border.
It has four reactors, the oldest of which has been running
since 1975..”
“…Doel’s 1 and 2 reactors should be shut down immediately.
Reactors 3 and 4 should be phased out….”
possible. In the meantime, an immediate and transparent
action plan is needed to deal with identified deficiencies
at reactors 3 and 4……..”
