Dick Smith calls the bluff on new nuclear technology scheme
“I predict that Mr Rossi will delay and delay in producing machines or in getting a proper scientific test done, while behind the scenes more and more people will be investing. “
Dick Smith: “Rossi E-CAT … too fantastic to be true” Forbes, Mark Gibbs, 24 Feb 12, Recently Australian entrepreneur Dick Smith offerred Andrea Rossi $1,000,000 if he could prove that Rossi’s Energy Catalyzer (E-Cat) cold fusion (or Low Energy Nuclear Reaction) system actually works as claimed. Rossi immediately turned down the challenge.
I emailed Smith asking him “you have expressed serious doubts about whether Andrea Rossi’s E-Cat performs as claimed. What is the basis of your doubts?”
The basis of my doubts in relation to the Rossi E-CAT performing as claimed are very simple.
Firstly, the claims are almost too fantastic to be true. Just imagine if we could buy a device for about $1,000 that would heat our homes for next to nothing………. Rossi claims that his E-CAT unit uses LENRs to provide an output far greater than the input. …..
Common sense alone says that if someone had invented such a machine, one of the first things they would do is arrange for a simple scientific test by independent, qualified individuals. They would then seek to have the results of this test published in a reputable scientific journal. Clearly, Rossi has not done this. ….. with Rossi, where claim after claim is made and then the claims are not fulfilled. A one megawatt machine is supposed to have been sold, however no announcement has been made as to who it has been sold to, and then we are told that it hasn’t been sold!
At one stage we are told that the chain in the USA have placed an order for huge quantities, but we have never been able to confirm that the actual order was placed.
Mr Rossi has stated on many occasions that he does not want money from people – they can buy the unit when it is successful. However, we then find out that an American millionaire flew to Italy for tests in October last year with a view to investment. Here in Australia, a person who claims to be Mr Rossi’s representative, Mr Solihan Millin, has asked me and others for an investment of up to $200,000 for the Australian rights. Only recently, Mr Rossi announced that his Leonardo Corporation is now the property of a trust of investors. Well, surely that must mean these investors have put money into the project? Not only has an independent and quite simple scientific test not been done on the Rossi device, but the modus operandi of Mr Rossi follows very closely with the people at Firepower and other fraudsters who have been in touch with me….
I sent him [Rossi] my genuine offer for US$1 Million for a repeat of the demonstration that has given his device the most credibility, i.e. the demonstration on 29 March 2011 with the Swedish scientists, Kullander and Essen…..
I predict that Mr Rossi will delay and delay in producing machines or in getting a proper scientific test done, while behind the scenes more and more people will be investing. …. http://www.forbes.com/sites/markgibbs/2012/02/24/dick-smith-rossi-e-cat-too-fantastic-to-be-true/
