Some USA Republican presidential candidates urge war with Iran
Romney, Gingrich at GOP debate: We’d go to war to keep Iran from getting nuclear weapons, CBS News, Nov. 13, SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich said at the Republican presidential debate here Saturday night that they would be willing to go to war to keep Iran from attaining nuclear weapons if all other strategies failed.
Romney said that if “crippling sanctions” and other strategies fail, military action would be on the table because it is “unacceptable” for Iran to become a nuclear power.
First, though, the United States consider “taking out their scientists,” and “breaking up their systems, all of it covertly, all of it deniable,” Gingrich said.
“If we re-elect Barack Obama, Iran will have a nuclear weapon. And if you elect Mitt Romney, Iran will not have a nuclear weapon,” said Romney.
Ron Paul strongly disagreed with his two rivals, stressing the need to go to Congress before taking military action and saying it isn’t worthwhile to use military force against Iran.
“I’m afraid what’s going on right now is similar to the war propaganda that went on against Iraq,” he said.
Herman Cain also opposed military action against Iran, saying the U.S. should increase sanctions, deploy ballistic missile warships in the region and assist the opposition movement…..
Doubts and inconsistencies in IAEA report on Iran’s nukes
Careful examination of the “alleged studies” documents has revealed inconsistencies and other anomalies that give evidence of fraud. But the IAEA, the United States and its allies in the IAEA continue to treat the documents as though there were no question about their authenticity.
IAEA report on Iran contains falsified information allegedly supplied by Israel, Moral Outrage, 11 Nov 11 The Hindu reports that the latest report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Iran appears to have falsified information about a Russian scientist who allegedly helped Tehran advance its nuclear weapons program. The IAEA report published by a Washington think tank Tuesday included a sensational claim that a former Soviet nuclear weapons scientist had helped Iran construct a detonation system that could be used for a nuclear weapon.
However, the Russian media has found out that the scientist, Vyacheslav Danilenko, had never worked in nuclear physics but their field of expertise was instead the production of nanodiamonds by explosion. Nanodiamonds are used in the manufacture of lubricants and rubber.
Contacted by the Russian daily newspaper Kommersant, the 76-year-old scientist, now retired, refused to discuss his work in Iran, saying only: “I’m not a nuclear physicist and I’m not a father of Iran’s nuclear programme.” Continue reading
U.S. army and depleted uranium

Gulf War Syndrome and the Army’s Depleted Uranium Training Videos, Motherboard by DerekMead , Nov 12, 2011 Depleted uranium, a bi-product of enriched uranium that was used in American munitions, was the focus of military preparations before the war. We dug up some old Army videos for “Depleted Uranium General Awareness Training” that shows just how under-prepared soldiers may have been to the hazards of this potentially pretty nasty stuff. Fukushima rescue squad volunteer dies from internal radiation
Dr. Sakiyama cunningly switched the subject to the Fukushima plant workers, but the issue here is not the plant workers. It’s the rescue squad members, it’s the volunteers, it’s the residents, who have been exposed, willing or not, to radiation that could kill over time, and who are without any shred of safeguard for their health. If they die, it is because of “stress”.
Fukushima rescuer dies from internal radiation, 13 NOVEMBER 2011, THE CANADIAN A woman in a public forum asked a question to the two panelists: Why did my friend die? The event was held in Sapporo City on November 6, 2011.
- VIDEO Transcript On October 26, a friend of mine in Osaka passed away. He was a rescue squad member and had been sent to work in disaster-affected areas for a long time, such as Iwate or Fukushima.
- In July, he was found to have been internally exposed to radiation. All his team members had been, too. But their mission didn’t end. Rescue people are those who went through very hard training and have a strong will to do something for the sake of others. So they continued to carry out their mission, even though they knew they had been exposed to radiation.
UK’s cover-up of the size of its nuclear bomb tests in Australia
A spokesman for Rosenblatt solicitors, which is representing veterans from the UK, New Zealand and Fiji since taking up the case six years ago, said: “This is potentially very significant information for the progress of the case.”…

Iran’s history – how the West promoted the tragedy of Iran
Iran a tragedy of the West’s own making. SMH, November 14, 2011 “…..The tragedy of this now oppressive theocratic state is that it was once the sole exemplary democracy in the Middle East. Its secular democracy was destroyed in 1953 by the US and Britain in a self-interested move to prevent Iran falling under the influence of the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
The imposition by the West of the Shah saw the establishment of a murderous and corrupt regime protected by the West to ensure the survival of Britain’s oil interests.
When the excesses of this regime became an embarrassment the West stood back as the Islamic revolution swept to power. Again the democratic forces were violently repressed by the new government…..
the West later supported the Saddam Hussein government in its war on Iran. Small wonder then that Iranians feel they have strong reasons to distrust and fear the West and its protege, Israel.
And given that the current oppressive Iranian regime has largely destroyed the remnant democratic forces in Iran, any chance of a democratic revolution is remote. The constant threat of military intervention and the sanctions imposed play into the hands of the present Iranian government… http://www.smh.com.au/national/letters/iran-a-tragedy-of-the-wests-own-making-20111113-1ndx3.html#ixzz1djIAWf2u

Mounting pile of uranium not really secure in Denver uranium mine
Uranium sifted from groundwater piles up inside mine west of Denver, By Bruce Finley, The Denver Post, 13 Nov 11 Nearly three-quarters of a ton of concentrated uranium removed from groundwater to protect metro-area drinking water is piling up at Cotter Corp.’s defunct mine west of Denver.
Cotter workers are storing it in plastic tanks inside a building at the Schwartzwalder mine, which is staffed by day but unguarded at night. State environmental overseers were notified last month of the mounting uranium. On Thursday, state officials could not address disposal, whether the uranium could be sold or whether there are security concerns.
However, on Friday morning, state health department spokesman Mark Salley said Cotter has a “radioactive materials license for management of residuals from contaminated groundwater treatment. The license specifies disposal at a licensed facility off-site, but a licensee could take the material for reprocessing if their license allowed it.
“There are no such licensees in Colorado,” Salley said.

Anxious moments for reporters at Fukushima nuclear plant
Reporters at damaged reactor plant told to stay in the bus, SMH Martin Fackler November 14, 2011 The most striking feature at this crippled plant was not the blasted-out reactor buildings, or makeshift tsunami walls, but the chaotic mess……
The dosimeters of the journalists on the bus buzzed constantly, recording levels that ticked up with each passing kilometre: 0.7 microsieverts in Naraha, at the edge of the evacuation zone; 1.5 at Tomioka, where the welcome centre for Fukushima Daiichi told Japanese visitors that nuclear power was safe. Saturday’s level was 13 times the recommended maximum annual dosage for civilians.
At the plant, journalists, outfitted in full contamination suits, were kept aboard the bus in recognition of the much higher radiation levels there….. http://www.smh.com.au/environment/reporters-at-damaged-reactor-plant-told-to-stay-in-the-bus-20111113-1ndty.html#ixzz1djZqdYBO
