In 2011, UK’s record growth in renewable energy

UK Reports Record Level of Renewable Energy, October 10th, 2011 by Jenson Brayshaw According to new reports, the second quarter of 2011 has seen green energy contribute to about 9.6 percent of the UK’s total electricity supply. This is a huge rise on 2010 levels. This news was reported by the Department of Energy and Climate Change.

Experts say that some 7.86TWh was generated by green energy sources this year. This is a 50 percent rise over what was produced last year. This huge surge in green energy was of course led by the wind-energy sector. This industry alone saw an output increase of over 120 percent when compared to last year. Hydroelectricity was second with an increase of 75 percent year on year……

Furthermore, it would seem that people are using less electricity as well. This could be due to the fact that electricity is getting very expensive. Either way, energy consumption is down 1.7 percent year on year. This is a nice big drop for the UK, and something that citizens can be proud of.

There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that the green energy sector has seen an increase thanks to more renewable projects going up. As more and more renewable-energy products get announced, people can assume that the amount of energy that they get from these projects will continue to rise.

Right now, the only thing that the renewable-energy market lacks is funding. The more funding that it receives, the more projects can go up. Everyday people are jumping on the renewable-energy bandwagon. They see that renewable-energy can produce enough electricity to power all the UK. It just needs more funding to do so.
