Japan’s PM pitching Japan as nuclear safety expert
Japan to host nuclear summit, Times LIVE, May 26, 2011 By Sapa-AFPJ apan intends to host a global meeting on nuclear safety with US atomic energy watchdog IAEA next year, Prime Minister Naoto Kan told G8 leaders yesterday
“Japan would like to open an international summit on nuclear safety in co-operation with the IAEA next year in Japan,” Kan said during lunch at the G8 summit in Deauville, according to a senior government official. ……
Japan has drawn up a timetable for stabilising the plant by early next year. Currently, an international team of IAEA specialists is inspecting the plant. Kan described the nuclear situation as “gradually stabilising”. ….Japan to host nuclear summit – Times LIVE
