Cold water thrown on the plan for cold fusion

Cold fusion is, if not outright impossible, then certainly highly implausible…..

No, Italian scientists have not discovered cold fusion, 24 jan 2011, Two physicists recently announced they had figured out the secrets of cold fusion, which is a low energy nuclear reaction that, if it exists, could solve the world’s energy problems. But to call their story fishy is a massive understatement.

Cold fusion is sort of like the alchemy of the modern world – yes, there might be a trickle of real science behind it, but the idea that it could provide free, limitless energy is almost certainly a pipe dream. Cold fusion became infamous in the late 1980s with the extremely controversial and largely rejected findings of Stanley Pons and Martin Fleischmann, and since then cold fusion has largely gone from legitimate line of inquiry to the domain of cranks, laughingstocks, and hoaxers. For more background on cold fusion, check out this post from last year.

That more or less brings us to today, as physicists Andrea Rossi and Sergio Focardi of Italy’s University of Bologna have unveiled their supposed massive breakthrough. They don’t just claim to have figured out how to make a cold fusion reactor, the actually say that they have built one and already tested it, with lots of new reactors ready to ship within the next few months………. Cold fusion is, if not outright impossible, then certainly highly implausible…..

  1. Sorry, but I don’t find your argument trying to debunk the Italian scientists at all convincing. I strongly suggest that you educate yourself regarding the subject. From your comment, you show yourself to be the least qualified of all people I’ve read to “throw cold water” on the subject. How about being an inquisitive scientist instead? *Sheesh*

  2. You must be neck deep working for big oil or the globalists. Cold fusion has been proven beyond a single dout [ except yours ] Over the years cold fusion came within a breath of going mainstream and the next day that scientist was ALSO found floating face down in harbors & lakes all over the world. Well it won’t happen again and this article stinks of whitewash. Cold fusion will clean up our earth and big oil had better get used to it. It’s time they were found floating.

    • We do not work for big oil or the “globalists” – whatever that term may mean.
We are a small voluntary team, with no ties whatsoever to any companies or corporations.
We are dedicated to showing the other side to the nuclear, and the big oil and coal interests.

The dream of nuclear fusion helps to keep alive the nuclear industry.
If indeed, nuclear fusion could work, it sounds good.
I know nothing of the scandal you suggest about that scientist.
Why don’t you publish some well-referenced documentation on this – and send us the link to your publication?

      • Alternative energy scientists have been turning up dead for years. For documentation simply google it. Anyone who believes otherwise is either naive or dumb. Most don’t want to hear the truth. And if you think the American government plays no role in these murders than I guess stupidity has no boundaries.

  3. If you’re going to make serious accusations, and expect anyone to take you seriously, it’s up to YOU to provide credible references for your statements
