USA’s new House Energy chairman an enemy of renewable energy

Renewable energy critic gets House post | Des Moines Register Staff Blogs, 8 Dec 10, Michigan Rep. Fred Upton, who last week attacked subsidies for renewable energy, was confirmed today as the next chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
In an online article, the Republican slammed “rampant cash handouts” for renewable energy and warned against a proposed renewable power mandate that he said would raise electricity prices.
“When the subsidy spigot is shut off, the green jobs will collapse, just like a Ponzi scheme,” he wrote for The Daily Caller, a conservative web site…….Upton replaces liberal California Democrat Henry Waxman, who shepherded a cap-and-trade climate bill through the committee along with the health-care overhaul….
