USA’s Energy Secretary wants to call nuclear energy “clean’, “renewable”

By PATRICK REIS | 12/7/10 The Obama administration may consider caving to GOP demands to include nuclear and some coal production in a “clean energy standard,” Energy Secretary Steven Chu said Tuesday.

In an online article, the Republican slammed “rampant cash handouts” for renewable energy and warned against a proposed renewable power mandate that he said would raise electricity prices.
