Media plan to counter radioactive wastes’s bad image
Port Hope launches media strategy after criticism from anti-nuclear activist The Canadian Press 28/11/2010 PORT HOPE, Ont. – Port Hope hopes to repair its image after an anti-nuclear activist warned that radioactive waste has caused contamination in the historic Ontario town.Town officials used this weekend’s festive Christmas activities to launch a national communications strategy.
It will address recent media coverage about the community’s plans to clean up radioactive material.
Earlier this month, nuclear activist Dr. Helen Caldicott told a crowd in Oshawa that radioactive waste is leaking into Lake Ontario and will eventually get into Port Hope’s food and water supply.
She predicted that will cause epidemics of cancer and genetic disease and she suggested people flee the area……….
