Colorado Governor Signs Clean Energy and Solar Laws, GetSolar . 14, June. 2010 Colorado Governor Bill Ritter signed a wide variety of bills boosting clean energy and solar power at the Veterans Green Jobs training facility in Denver last week.
Among the new laws was House Bill 1267 (Kerr/Romer), which exempts “third-party, independently residential solar facilities” from property taxes, an exemption which already applies to solar facilities that homeowners install on their own homes. In essence, this exemption encourages allows residents to lease solar panels from another company or purchase solar power from a third party with a property tax stimulus.Colorado is aiming to promote the development and expansion of new solar installations through a number of different initiatives.
Another law, House Bill 1333(Vigil/Schwartz and Newell), provides grants to community colleges and vocational schools in order to create green job training programs.
“By creating this partnership for green job training, we can help people who might have lost their jobs and need to be trained in new skills,” Rep. Ed Vigil, one of the bill’s authors, said. “We can help put folks back to work in growing sectors of our economy.”The governor also signed laws to finance energy efficiency projects and establish community-based renewable energy initiatives Colorado Governor Signs Clean Energy and Solar Laws | Get Solar.com
