UK Property prices slump where nuclear reactors planned

Cumbrian property prices hit by nuclear power station plans News & Star By Julian Whittle Political Editor  02 February 2010 Proposals for nuclear power stations at Braystones and Kirksanton in west Cumbria are causing “property blight”, Cumbria County Council believes……..….Mrs Fallon’s report adds: “Development of the Braystones site would have substantial negative impacts on local communities because of their close proximity……..
Given that Braystones and Kirksanton would not be developed before 2025, Mrs Fallon argues, “the uncertainty….will affect the economic and social wellbeing of members of the community”.

Her report also raises concerns as to whether caravans and bungalows on Braystones beach would offer enough protection in a nuclear accident.

And it says that the Kirksanton site, near Millom, would harm the “internationally-protected conservation sites” of the Duddon estuary and Morecambe Bay.
