MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) – An internationally known writer and anti-nuclear activist is getting a warm reception from Vermont lawmakers as she heaps criticisms on the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant and atomic power industry……………………

Caldicott, an Australian-born pediatrician, took aim at several aspects of nuclear power, including its claims that it helps to minimize greenhouse gas emissions.

She says in a new book that a nuclear fuel processing plant in Kentucky has been plagued with leaks of chlorofluorocarbons – a gas that is a far more potent global warming trigger than carbon dioxide.
