Only reading this did I realize the full repercussions of Evraz (belonging to Putin kingmaker Roman Abramovich (whose wife is friend to Ivanka Trump) along with other oligarchs apparently owning the only company that makes rails in the US! It means that they can undermine railway travel to better promote the use of private vehicles, along with pipelines. Evraz supplied pipes for XL Pipeline and Dakota Access and will probably supply Bayou Bridge. Russia remains a very major source of petroleum for the US. Trump commerce secretary Wilbur Ross sold much of the US steel industry to India tycoon Mittal. I recall sitting in a couple of Finance classes in the early 1990s where the professor talked about the US economy being based on liquidating its assets rather than creating anything – more important truth in that finance class than in the other departments.
