The News That Matters about the Nuclear Industry

Fascism and the nuclear industry – theme for November 2016

There’s an uncanny echo of the 1930s in the rise of extreme right wing politics in the Western world today. The dissastisfaction of the “working class” in their stagnant wages and disappearing jobs, and of the vanishing middle class –  all tends to make a simplistic populist cry very attractive.

“I will make America great again” – says Donald Trump. And how many other strident voices are gathering mass support with a similar message in other countries?

If you think that this is unrelated to the nuclear industry, think again. Nuclear power and nuclear weapons, with all the necessary secrecy surrounding them , are the perfect technologies for keeping the public in fear, and under control –  the fascist system.

  1. Focus on Nuclear issues, not left wing shilling.

Donald Trump is not a fascist. It’s absurd.

This hysterical language We are seeing against Trump and his supporters is demonising and dehumanising many people and although the hatred lands mainly on White males a Black man by the name of Mormon was murdered for saying he voted for Mr Trump. It has already lead to violence and deaths of Conservative people of all races and sexes. They’ve created a phantom monster and people are reacting to it by becoming monsters themselves.

I beg you to modulate your language by not trusting the main stream media echoe chamber and irresponsibility using words such as Fascist.

Fascism involves a 3rd way of combined Socialism and Corporatism seen in the Labour Party of Tony Blair and as exemplified by the Democrat administrations of Obama and Clinton. It’s was an invention of Benito Mussolini, a communist, who during WW1 saw the innate tribalism of humans and thought it was ssential to utilise this.

Finally fascists like to centralise power. The USA is a decentralised republic in which as much power is devolved as possible. The powers of the President Trump are limited. He can not arrest anyone. Yes he can build a wall. Big deal.

  2. I’d like to think that you are right, rationalisationhamster. Fascism can appear in several forms. Hitler and Mussolini were both fascists, but with different philosophies and agendas. Yes, fascism does imply the control of a nation by a dictatorship backed by corporations. That control extends to removing freedom of speech, freedom of association, of privacy and imposing executive control of the judiciary and academia.

That was not the case in Tony Blair’s Britain, nor in Clinton’s and Obama’s America, though I am not saying that their administrations were without fault.

If one looks at the kind of people that Donald Trump is gathering around him, and at Trump’s business interests worldwide, it looks very much as if business corporations will be running America, in away never seen before.

As to hysterical language – Donald Trump has quite a record of this in his election campaign. As to violence – Trump did not seem to mind the threats against Hillary Clinton. Oh , but I forgot! The end justifies the means, doesn’t it? So Trump will be all democratic sweetness and light from now on?

If we’re talking about hatred etc – I wonder how all those “rust-belt” disadvantaged white men are going to feel when it becomes apparent that the promised jobs and manufacturing revival just aren’t happening under President Trump?

  3. Funny but that is all rationalhamster, as it calls itself does. Shill for extreme fascist politics instead of concentrating on nuclear issues. The pot calling the kettle black. Yet the ends justify the ends in the warped brains of nasty little psychopaths like this creature. It would sell its soul and a nations soul based on civil liberties and personal freedoms for its twisted selfish ideology and it is so narcissistic and brainwashed and enamored with itself to see the contradictions and hippocricy of these self imposed lies. As bad or worse than the most dedicated Bolshevik. Like the political duopoly in america this fool is too stupid to see that the authoritarian and totalitarian inclinations of fascism and Bolshevism are different sides of the same coin. Go start with animal farm by Orwell Mr pinhead. Obviously a brainwashed creep with no spirituality and little intellectual curiosity beyond the bounds of its own pointy head.

  5. I do not like people who are ignorant of political science and history. I am from Canada. My grandparents came here to escape the fascint trends in pre-world war two Europe. I would hope that the nondemocratic and surveillance state trends do not continue in Canada, the United States, and Great Britain. When world economies get bad the authotarian urges of elites grows stronger. I pray that Donald Trump does something to aid the Japanese at Fukushima.

    • “Authoritarian elites”? Just wait until Donald Trump and the unlimited Republican administration get underway.

Then we are going to see elites – if you call narrowly educated business people who favour the wealthy “elite people”.

As distinct from those whose expertise in areas like health, environment, social justice makes them a different, and admirable kind of “elite”
