Experts at Gulf energy forum enthusiastic about renewable energy, not nuclear

Solar, not nuclear, power gets the vote of delegates at environment forum By ROGER HARRISON | ARAB NEWS May 31, 2011 JEDDAH: Expert delegates at the Gulf Environment Forum’s opening session on nuclear power have suggested solar energy is the way forward.
The plans and advantages of nuclear power seemed to leave the session unconvinced of the benefits.
Delegates expressed concern for the disposal of nuclear waste from reactors should the nuclear program come online…….
Professor Habib Abualhamayel, director of the Center of Research Excellence in Renewable Energy, reviewed the work of his department.
He said he was focusing on the development of solar panels for use with air conditioning, the largest consumer of energy in the country, and storage of generated power.
